We will be in WDW the first week of September. Will I need to pack hoodies or sweaters for the evenings?

NO.... its still very hot !! it will not start to get cool in orlando until after thanksgiving..

You will need rain ponchos tho...

Definetly not... we go that time every year and it is still blazing...
the only time i get chilly is on the rides that are indoors or the shows like the Muppets 3-D, but i don't want to have to carry a sweater around, so i stick it out knowing that I am going to be sweating in about 15mins....

Absolutely no hoodies. I do second the vote for rain ponchos though!

When is the American Thanksgiving? We will be in WDW at the end of October for Halloween. Might we need hoodies/sweatshirts then? I read on someones trip report from last fall that it was COLD, they need seatshirts AND HOT Chocolate! I guess that kind of weather is generally NOT the norm?

I am an "overpacker".;)

I have ALWAYS taken a sweater or sweatshirt into the parks, because I get so cold in some of the attractions. Next month I plan on taking lightweight long sleeve shirts for all of us. :thumbsup2

Thanksgiving is the 4th Thursday in November. And yes, I'd pack a hoodie or sweatshirt for a late October trip. It's very likely you'll never use it, but we do occasionally have a chilly fall like last year, and packing it but never using it beats wishing you had it!

Generally, though, Florida kids don't trick-or-treat in those warm fleecy costumes--too warm!

I say yes only becasue who would of thought I need them in April and surprise surpsise hello cold spell. SOOO never again will I not pack them even middle of July to hawaii:rotfl:

Generally Halloween is hot, but not always. We did MNSSHP last year the week of Halloween and froze our booties off! We knew it was going to be cold so we had sweatshirts, jackets, beach towels for blankets, etc and still froze! It was 43 degrees F when we left MK at 11pm. Brrrrr......

I'm about 90 miles from WDW, and we generally have a "cold snap" about a week or so before Halloween. It lasts about 2 days, and it means having to decide if you want to wear shorts and be a little chilly in the morning and evening or wear long pants and maybe be a little warm in the afternoon. I like it because it gives us fall pics at the pumpkin patch in jeans instead of shorts. LOL!!!! However, then it turns hot again until, well...., we just don't really know. We have lots of those little cold snaps until mid to late Jan.

Steve's Girl, I think you might be the one whose trip report I had read about that, and thus why I asked this question. I remembered reading it somewhere on these boards, about how it was SO cold last fall, and the kids kept asking to go back to the Hotel instead of staying at MNSSHP? Was that you?
Glad you stuck it out!
I hate our winters! Too long and most often Too Cold! Lots of snow for Christmas and lots during Winterlude, but other than that, I can very much do without! Actually it's not the snow I hate, it's really the COLD I hate! And Wind CHILLS! If I ever win the lottery, I'll move south (sorry Canada,), maybe just during the winter!

No, it wasn't me, but whoever it was had the same experience as we did! We are from the Midwest, so we are pretty used to snow and cold. But, 43 degrees in Florida feels a lot colder than it does at home! I think it is because of the humidity in Florida.

I packed a sweatshirt for everyone last September and never even took them out of the suitcase. It was so hot that my BIL compared it to walking on the surface of the sun! :rotfl2:Even so, I will probably pack one for everyone on our trip next month... just in case. :thumbsup2

I have a plan not to pack hoodies or sweatshirts for my trip over Halloween thru 11/11... if I need them when we get there we will buy (although expensive) Disney ones for souveniers... :goodvibes I will be packing rain ponchos though!!!

I plan to bring a light sweat shirt for everyone on our trip in mid-Sept (just 1). With my luck Orlando would get a freak cold spell and I'd have to walk around cold. :rotfl2:

We have been going in September since 1993, first year we packed warmer clothing. never used it.

now we don't waste the space.

DO pack a poncho, or buy one there!

we found that it is so warm in the evening, that even wearing shorts and light shirts is more than enough!

Like a lot of other posters said, it dosn't get really cold until October/November

Not needed for outside, but if you are a "chilly" person you will want them for inside. My kids are always cold inside restaurants. We used sweatshirts in June. Also for the people who asked about the fall, by mid October it can get cooler at night so we've always used them that time of year too.
