I have ressies for DH and I at CA Grill at 6:10 on the same night that Spectro is at 8. What are the chances we would make it back to MK on time to see it?

I don't know what to do. DH really wants to see Spectro this trip - he hasn't seen it since he was a child and it is only on two nights during our trip. The night with our CA Grill reservations is the first night they have it during our trip, so if we don't make it I guess we could try for it the second time, but with I've been told it is canceled often in September due to rain. Is that true?

I already tried changing my CA Grill ressies, but could't get anything else that would work.

I think it would be cutting it a little too close for comfort. A couple tips I have read from more experienced posters here would be to show up early for res. in hopes for a little earlier seating.

Might help to travel light , if possible, to skip the bag search lines entering into MK.

Also, I believe I remember Robo posting that Spectro begins at front of Mainstreet and ends at Frontierland (opposite of other parades) so that doesn't help the situation.

Good Luck!

if you are lucky enough to seat at 6:10 it could be done if you look at the menu and know exactly what you want. dont order drinks and let the waiter go get them before ordering dinner. order it all at once. and skip dessert, or eat really fast and order your desert at the same time that the meal comes.

but, if you havent been able to change your ADR, that means its booked solid. so the odds of actually sitting at 6:10 is slim.

The restaurant opens at 5:30, so 6:10 is still in the first seating. I would get there at 5:30 and explain that you are willing and would like to be seated earlier. Have your cocktail at the bar while you wait. Definitely tell the waiter your plans and he will expedite your meal for you. Tell him a definite time you need to be done and payed. I would think if you were done at 7:40 that would be more than enough time to walk over the entrance to the Magic Kingdom (it's only a few blocks, you can see it out the windows of the restaurant).

FWIW, we usually have a more relaxed meal at CG, including drinks, wine, appetizers, salad, main course, and desert…. And enjoy it thoroughly in usually 2 to 2.5 hours. That said, I believe 1.5 hours is very do-able, just be flexible and have fun.

Thanks for the tips!

I'm really torn because I would like to be at CG for Wishes instead of seeing Spectro, but I have been planning this entire trip and figure I should at least accomodate DH's 1 request! :rotfl:

And, I think I did read somewhere that you can bring your receipt back to CA Grill and watch Wishes there the same night you had dinner. Is that true? It might be a lot of running around, so I don't know if it would be worth it or not. I think we'll just play it by ear to see how things go and how we feel, but it will be good to at least know what we can/can't do.
