Will we love the CR?

I admit to being a resort changer! We were booked at WL for a very quick birthday trip in January for myself and DD17 and DD14. The girls think we are staying at POFQ. Well, I checked the passholder site 2 days ago and found we could stay at CR for only $45 nt more than WL. I really love being able to jump on the monorail instead of boats and buses but my girls were unimpressed with the public areas of CR when we visited for parasailing on our last trip. Please tell me we will love the CR. Thanks to all.

I love being in the midst of things. WL is just too out of the way. Have that experience when you're in Colorado...

When at CR, I have the feeling that I've arrived at a space port and I'm actually visiting another WORLD. Okay, I'm a Star Trek fan. But that just gives me the ultimate in theming and location.

Personally, I am going to agree with your daughters. I thought the CR was too bland, and looked like a modern Marriott. I know I'm a little biased with the WL being my second favorite resort (other than the Poly) but that's just my take.

You'll have a great trip no matter where you stay!

Go figure We loved the CR really disliked the WL, but had great trips both times.. Have a wonderful time!

I would choose CR over Wl in a heartbeat. DH and I declared it our absolute favorite resort afterspending only ONE night there on our honeymoon. We splurged and booked one night there in a tower room facing the MK and did the rest of our stay at BC (we were even given a complimentary upgrade to concierge at BC and we STILL like CR way better and wished we had booked a full trip there.)

CR is undergoing a MAJOR overhaul, so be aware that there may be some constructtion going on. However, fo us, the ammenities and location can't be beat. Monorail service, boat service or a 5 minute walk to the turnstiles at MK??? What more could one ask for?

Do you happen to know how much construction is still going on? We saw the North wing gone and the construction on the concourse when we visited in June but was wondering if anyone knows what is still being worked on.

1st Let me say you're going to love the Contemporary and staying so close to the Magic Kingdom. 2nd In January there should be no renovations going on inside. They just opened the new store on the 4th floor and the lobby renovation should be done anytime now. Now even though they will be working on building the Wave where the Food & Fun Center use to be, that has been covered by a wall so you won't see them working in there and won't be hearing anything.

Of course they are still going to be working outside where the North Garden Wing use to be, however that has no effect on anyone staying in the Tower or the South Garden Wing.

Since I can't eat lots of Asian food - it will be Kona Cafe at the Polyn for me.

what didn't your girls like about the CR?

would think most kids would love the monrail going through the hotel. if they didn't like that - you might have been better off staying at the wl.

that say the first time you stay late at the MK and get in those crowds, and you can walk back to your resort - that is generally enough STAR power for even teenage girls to appreciate the CR.

The new shop has been finished and the Food & Fun Center has been closed, however the temporary cs location has opened on the 4th floor.

The Concourse Steakhouse is not closing until May 10th, so it won't effect the OP since she is staying at the Contemporary in January. So until then that date there is no more renovations happening on the 4th floor.

Just returned from the CR yesterday We love it! Love the monorail. We had a bay lake view room on the 5th floor right above the shops. Last room at the end of the building, close to construction. We liked watching the cranes each day. Loved the fluffy beds, pillows, computer, flat screen TV, bathroom, sinks, did I say that I loved it
