Will we like the CR wing rooms?

I just switched our Oct. reservation from the WL to the CR. We went away this past weekend and realized our 2 yr old DD will not be very comfortable in the pack and play crib we would have gotten at the WL. :confused3 The only other thing we could afford was a standard wing room at the CR. Any input about these rooms and this hotel would be greatly appreciated. :flower: Please put my mind at rest that I did the right thing. By the way our 2 DS will be 10 and almost 6 when we go and 2 value rooms are out of the question as my husband has turned into a resort snob during the planning of this trip. :earboy2:
Thanks again. :wave2:

Omigosh! I just got back from a wonderful vacation in a standard wing room! :sunny: Be sure to request a ground floor room....my 2 year old LOVED playing in the grass and watching the ducks and bunnies! :cloud9:

In a standard room you also have a parking lot/magic kingdom view. We watched them every night from out patio and my kids were in awe...they were so close...it was like we were AT the MK!!!! We were in room 7179 7178....GREAT unobstructive view of the fireworks. :)

The contemporary also has an awesome kiddie water area! There are fountains shooting out of the ground and a soft material around it so they won't get hurt if they fall...it is great!

You also can't beat the monorail!!! NO more lugging strollers on crowded buses!

Were the rooms in pretty good condition? We have a GV room booked for our trip in October with hopes of getting a refurbished room, but in case they dont' have those open yet I was wondering if the rooms are still pretty nice. I've read mixed things before, so it's hard to tell. Thanks!

We loved the CR! We had a room in the South wing. It was very large and not run down. We had a standard room booked but were upgraded to a garden wing room when we got there. In a way I wish we kept the std room in the North building because we would have had a nice view of the monorail and fireworks as well as a pretty short walk to the MK. Instead we had a very quiet room in the South building overlooking the canal between Bay Lake and the SSL. It wasn't far from the pool but it was extremely quiet, we barely saw anyone else outside our courtyard the whole time we were there. We prefer being around some activity since our kids are young so I would try to avoid that area in the future unless it was a really quiet room that you wanted. If you are in the South wing, facing the pool and tower would be nice. The resort itself we like very much and would love to stay there again someday. Have a great trip! :wizard:

We had a first floor standard room in the north wing. We really enjoyed it. The room was large and the kids enjoyed the sliding glass door to the patio. Our view was of a small lake and trees. Very pretty. The room was in pretty good shape -- we had to call to have a door knob put on the bathroom door, which was missing. They fixed it pretty quickly. Frankly, the decor in the rooms and the hallways is nothing short of hideous -- likely will be much nicer after the re-do. But, given the convenience to MK, the monorail, the really big, comfortable room, the large table for morning cereal for the kids, the huge bathroom (which we loved because it's closed in, so no sinks in the bedroom), the excellent arcade, the terrific pools -- one with great slide and the other gorgeously situated right next to the lake, the beach and marina and California Grill just up the elevator -- well, who cares what the decor is like?!

We'd stay there again in a minute! And, would definitely pick it over WL, which, while having great ambiance in the lobby, has the most uncomfortably claustrophic rooms of any WDW hotel we've stayed at -- including the moderates.

They were in great condition and the carpet and walls had already been redone. I can't wait until all of the rooms are refurbished!

oh my gosh! I just switched from WL to CR garden view this weekend. Don't feel bad, I think we made a great decision ;)
DH is a monorail snob, I can't wait to walk to MK!
have a great trip!!! I didn't request either side, as I am going to hope for a rehabed room, or whatever is the best available. I find that the fewer expectations I make on a ressie, the better I come out. just my experience!

Can't wait!!!!!......... :Pinkbounc

Some of the rooms in the wings are FAR away from the lobby, so just be sure they don't put you in one of the wing rooms that is all the way to the end of the wings (we were in room 8025 which is 3rd floor) and it felt like we walked at least half a mile to get to the lobby. I was thinking this would be hard on someone with strollers etc. We did not have a Magic Kingdom view but we could see some of the fireworks from the room. The room was in good condition but I don't think it was a refurbished room.

Thanks for the info.

Rozzie, when in October are you going? We are going October 1-6. We are hoping for a rehabbed room too, but from the sounds of the posts here we should come out OK even if we don't get the "new" rooms. Maybe we will see you there!

Looks like I need to add a request for a first floor room so we can get the patio, and I'm thinking we may like South Wing best but maybe I should hold off on that one since I'm going for rehab, in which case I would be happy with either wing. We've always wanted to stay at CR, so I'm glad we're finally going to do it. Our last trip at WL was a little claustrophic (as others stated above) with our family of 5, so I will gladly welcome the extra space. Thanks everyone! Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

We really enjoyed this resort when we stayed there before. My DS was 6yo and I loved the convenience of the walk to Mk and the monorail. The pool was the best and everyone had a good time with the water slide and the play area. Our room was large and it wasn't a refurbished one I didn't find it bad at all. We were on the second floor. As cheesy as it was my son loved opening the sliding glass door and watching the Water parade at night ! I would not hesitate to stay here again !

Call me a heretic, but I PREFER the garden wing rooms to the Tower! Last June we stayed in NGW room; we're spoiled for life! There was nothing like enjoying a late-night drink on your patio, watchign the boat traffic on Bay Lake; or, alternatively, drinkign your coffee in the morning fog.

I have ony stayed inthe NOrth Wing in the CR and have LOVED being able to walk to the MK, monorail to Epcot & the busses are right there in that parking lot- with the monorail roaring just above your head.
I cannot imagine you'd be dissappointed! :)

Best of all, the renovations to the South Garden Wing will have been completed by the time you arrive!

We'll be there Oct 2-8. Maybe we'll be neighbors in our new rehabbed rooms. :Pinkbounc

See you in October.

I love the garden wing rooms. The couple of times we stayed there we were in the rooms that overlook the water and it was beautiful. At night we would watch the water pagent go by and the early morning sunrises were beautiful. We even watched a family of ducks each morning (mama and babies) I prefer the wings to the tower because they are quiet and have their own charm.

.

actually we will be at BWI/Poly for our oct trip oct 29-nov 7. I changed our aug ressies from WL to CR aug 10-14. I will def. do a trip report for all of us wondering the latest at CR. I think i would walk further from a south wing to have a rehabed room, those beds look very very comfy! :goodvibes

We loved staying in our North Wing room--so close to MK and the CR food court/arcade. We had a ground floor room with a patio. The Wing rooms do not have balconies.
