Will we get sick on Mission Space?

I'm 50 and my husband's 63. We have ridden Rock and Roller Coaster and Space Mountain with out problems, but Body Wars was deadly. How much motion sickness have folks experienced?

From my experience if you can do spinning rides you will be fine on MS. I love the teacups. DH can't even look at them. We went on MS and I kept wondering when the awfullness of the ride was going to start. Next thing I know its over! I said "Thats it?!" DH was white as a sheet and was done for the day with rides. I think the problem is that you don't even realize you are spinning, but your insides know! ;)

If you like rides that spin you will be ok. I personally didn't think the ride was that bad - but my mom who is 62 did get sick and didn't feel good for the next couple of hours. I felt bad since I was the one who talked her into it! Then again she does take motion sickness medicine for plane trips and boat rides so I guess that should have been a clue that this wasn't the ride for her!

I loved it. My kids loved it. But, my wife thought it was the scariest ride in all 4 of the Disney parks and Universal Studios combined. She even thought it was worse than the Hulk coaster.

My DD LOVES spin rides (teacups and astro orbitors) She felt ill after this ride!
I didnt even try it!

My DH cannot handle spinning rides at all, but he had no problems on Mission Space.

Dh is US Marine corps vet (flew on HMH-53 large helipcopters) but CANNOT handle the tea cups v-good and Misson Space made him deathly sick. HE had to go lie down at the hotel for a bit to feel better. BIG BAD MARINE :rotfl2: So I total agree with above post...if you don't like to spin....SKIP MS! :sad2:

Take Bonine (motion sickness medicine), just in case.

Good idea, I never thought of that. I think I'll give that a try. I liked the ride but did not feel good for a bit after.

I can ride all roller coasters with absolutely no problems, but can't ride things that spin - like the others have said. I knew that MS spins at a high rate, so I took motion sickness pills about a half hour before riding. I got really sick anyway, which lasted about three hours  - but even so, I'm still glad I rode it at least once, because when are you ever going to get to blast off into space??? But once was enough for me!! ;)

Hated it. Can ride any coasater but I think I have an inner ear issue from a previous SCUBA class. So it made me really nauseous!

I'm now 55. I can no longer ride Tea Cups or Tilt-a-whirls but I love Mission Space. DH (58) could probably ride it all day long, but twice in a row feels about right for me. After some time (like Test Track) I'm good to go again.

I do OK -- not great -- on spinning rides, and never have had a problem with Body Wars or Star Tours. I thought this ride might make me a bit woozy ...

I FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO DIE.

I can't overstate how miserable I felt (not nauseous exactly, more beat up). The virtual reality aspect didn't work at all on me. I never felt like the sensations fit the visuals on the screen. I didn't feel like I was taking off in a rocket. Also, I felt trapped, like there was no way to get off or stop the ride if I needed to.

I'm 32.

I don't get motion sickness. I don't get car sick. I have never in my life gotten sick on a ride. Until Mission Space. The entire time my DH and I were in line, I was worried about him (he does get motion sickness). I was laughing about how I was going to have to hold his bag for him... Boy, if I only knew. During the ride you make a trip to Mars, and all I could think was, if we have to flyback to earth, I'm going to throw up. Luckily, there is no return trip, but I didn't feel well for about 45 minutes after (kinda headache-y and nauseated). And my husband- was just fine! (p.s. - I'm 24, he's 26).

I can ride most any ride. I love rollercoasters and I am the Tilt-a-Whirl Queen! I love the Teacups and most other spinny rides, but I cannot do motion simulators. :confused3

Twice I've tried them and both times I was sick most of the rest of the day and the first two hours after riding were just awful. I couldn't get back to the hotel fast enough to lie down.

I have not done MS and never will...I just don't want to take the chance of it ruining my day...the memory of my other motion simulator rides keeps me FAR away from MS.

I think if Body Wars was deadly for you, MS might not be a good idea.

I loved this ride but I did everything they told us NOT to do and I was sick as a dog for the rest of the day.... I did the ride, loved the ride, got the t-shirt about the ride and I'll never ride it again...LOL

Like alot of others have said, if you can handle the teacups... you'll have no problem with Mission Space.

Have a great vacation!!

I agree with the poster who says this feels more like a motion simulator, not a spinny-teacup thing.

:confused3 well this is a really realistic motion simulator and there are alot of rules....you cant close your eyes, you have to look straight forward...etc.

but im 13 and i felt really sick afterward! :headache: :scared:

my advice, don't drink a margarita and then get on it. My DH did that and wasn't the same for the rest of the day!

I have never gotten sick on a ride. I heard about people getting motion sickness on MS so I carefully followed every rule to avoid it. I spent the next hour on Ellen's energy adventure taking deep breaths and fighting it back.
