We are a family of 4 -2 adults, 2 kids aged 9 and 4. W usually rent a van or suv, but with rates as they are, we're doing Emerald Aisle. If we get stuck with an intemediate, will we fit? We'll have 2 large suitcases, 2 small ones, and an umbrella stroller, and a booster seat. We don't mind being cramped, just don't want to have to put luggage on someones lap.

I think you should be able to fit.
We rented an intermediate from Alamo last month (got a Mazda 3 I believe?) and it was the 4 of us, 2 adults and a 16 and 14 year old. Each of us had a suitcase and they all 4 fit in the trunk (no room to spare though).
If the umbrella stroller didnt fit I'm thinking it could just be put on the floor in the back, and you will be using the booster seat so no worries about that.

I think you'd be fine.

We are 2 adults and 2 little kids both of which are still in regular car seats. We have fit fine in both an intermediate and full size the last 2 years and are currently booked with an intermediate for jan/feb. The last 2 years we also took a double stroller that laid very flat on top of our 2 large suitcases and one carry on suitcase stored in the trunk. We put one car seat in the middle position, one behind the driver and then used the spot behind the passenger seat for coats, backpacks, our extra carryon, etc. I wasn't sure we would fit, because I'm used to a minivan; but actually we were fine.

Have a good trip.

The ONLY thing I'd say is that a full is not usually significantly more than intermediate. Thus, I'd go with a full, myself. But I'm 6'3", so intermediate really never works for me. ;)

You may need to put one of the smaller bags between the two kids, but it should work---that's about what we normally travel with. There's not a lot of room left over, but it's fine.

Since we're Emerald Isle, we have to reserve an intermediate and then hope there is something larger in the aisle.

Thanks all for the replies. Sounds like we'll be tight but fine.

You will be fine. My family 2 adults and 2 teens fit in a intermediate with a small suitcase or carryon in the back seat between the kids. Your umbrella stroller will lay on the floor. Really you will only have that much packed in there 2 times (to and from the airport) the rest of the time you will be without. I am tall as is my ds14 and we were fine. Last trip we rented a rav4 and it was smaller than the intermediate. I couldn't get enough leg room in the driver seat and the stearing wheel was too low. Not made for tall people. I wouldn't hesitate to get the intermediate again. Plus there are always so many different makes of vehicles and you get to pick your own with alamo. I always check out the trunk space first.
Good luck and have a great trip!:thumbsup2
