Will we ever see the Peoplemover or Rocket Rods resurrected?

I never got to ride either the peoplemover or the rocket rods, but the videos on youtube make me wish I had been able to. They both seem awesome and I noticed that the tracks still wrap around Tomorrowland. Anybody know anything on this?

I never got to ride the Rocket Rods either, didnt go that year, but I heard they sucked. Peoplemovers I miss. There is talk of them coming back sometime in the future, something with the track being not so great or something like that.
Even though the Rocket Rods sucked, I wish I was at least able to try them, that way I can say the sucked too!!

I was lucky enough to ride the Rocket Rods once, and it was a blast! Maybe it had to do with it being night time, that made it so cool but also that the track is so long and unexposed. Zipping around Tomorrowland like that in the dark, I can remember my friend Rachel cracking up as we would then start to break around the corners .
I think they should reinstate the People Mover. I loved loved loved that attraction!

For me Rocket rods did not suck at all, and I found them quite enjoyable. They may have sucked for Disney cause they broke down often and was expensive to repair, and because of that, they will probably never return in the form that they were.

Rocket Rods were my favorite ride back when they existed. Granted, I was only a kid, but still, they were a rush and provided a great view of Tomorrowland. The only real problem with Rocket Rods was the long, slow moving line.

In order to reinstate a ride on those tracks, they will need to:
a) Create a concept that has a pretty decent capacity
b) Do a lot of construction around the loading tower to create a queue line. The former queue line for Rocket Rods used to go right through what is now Buzz.
c) Create a ride that can handle the unbanked curves of the track, unlike Rocket Rods which had to slow down at every curve, causing stress on the wheels
d) Fix up the track because there are places in the course that are basically overgrown with plants.

I just hate seeing a deserted loading area and track at tomorrowland. It's somewhat depressing.

I had the pleasure of riding both of these rides. And yes I thought Rocket Rods were great. As far as either one returning? I highly doubt this. The track was compromised with the speed and torque of the rockets. There are so many stress cracks on the structure that it all would need to be completely re-built to accomodate any type of attraction. This and the enormous queue that was used for the line to Rocket Rods led to its demise.

I rode Rocket Rods several times and I really liked them alot. They were very smooth and went really fast - they were great at night. One thing I didn't like was that the left side of the car was blocked off and you couldn't see as well on that side unless you were really tall, which I'm not. The right side was open and you could see. I'm not sure why they did that.

Also, they broke down alot. So it seemed like you could stand in a line for 45 minutes and then they would break down. It was very frustrating.

Can't remember where I read it, but I read recently that Disney was planning on bringing back the peoplemover in the future and that that was why they hadn't demolished the track.

I missed out on the Rocket Rods. We were there when they were in the test stage and I know they sounded very cool and I couldn't wait to ride them! But even during the testing it was obvious there were significant break down problems. Since that time, looking at the track I can see why it never really worked out.

But I really miss the people movers - it's the ride I always do in FL, usually multiple times! I do wish they'd resurrect that and not have a deserted attraction!

We were told on the VIP tour that Peoplemover WILL be back, but after the DCA upgrade. The gals on our tour can correct me, but I'm pretty sure that our guide said that this is a hot item for the DL president, & that he wants it done. They have a lot of renovation, though, before bringing it back.

I'm so happy to hear that I'm not the only one that liked the Rocket Rods. Everyone in my family did not like them and then I never heard anything but negative things about them from other people, so I felt like a black sheep. I was sad when they never came back. I miss the Peoplemover too, but I remember it was always way too loud for me in the room that, I think, was supposed to be like Tron.

If I ever walk into Tomorrowland and see the peoplemover cars running again it will be a grand day.

As previously stated, the existing track will no longer pass code and needs to be rebuilt or extensively renovated.

If we see the PM return it probably won't be until atleast 2012.

I loved the Tron stuff on PM and it was cool how it went past Space Mtn. and Inner Space along it's route. I miss the serenity of PM and it was the ride that brought TL together, TL has never been the same without it.

I like the MK version in FL but it is just not nearly as neat as the DL PM.

I went on RocketRods. For me, it just wasn't worth the really long wait to go on something that just went fast. As for PeopleMover, I'd like to see it return, but I'll believe that it's returning when it actually returns. I've heard too many rumors for too many years.

I can hear the shreaking sound of the race bikes zooming by in my head!

That would be neat if they tied it in like that but doubtful as the ride won't come back for several years, if ever.

I think if there was one thing they could do to revitalize DL it would be to bring back the PM in all it's glory.

Yea for the People Mover!! I know that is always something I have to ride on when ever I go to MK, so hopefully DL will get it back soon as well!

Rocket Rods had one of the worst queque lines ever imo. Just as you thought you would be nearing the end here comes another line. The circular room where you went round and round then back out was the worst. Remember waiting over 2Hrs only for it to break down to ride it the first time which ended up being the last. It really ruined any chance of enjoyment. Enjoy realxing on the TTA in the MK Bring the People mover back to DL.

The Rocket Rods queue went through the 360 old circle vision theater. But after the ride closed, that theater went under construction and now it is home to Buzz Lightyear's Astroblasters.

The sad part is when Disney was ready to create the Rocket Rods one of the problems was that they could not find a corporate sponsor to help fund the project. Had they been able to do that (silly DL came up empty on this) they would have been able to rebuild the PM tracks to better accomodate the Rocket Rods by adding bermed turns like Test Track at Epcot.

Since they were not able to secure a sponsor they built the ride on the cheap (thanks Mike Eisner) and tried to use the existing PM tracks which as we know did not work out.

They spent tons of money anyways in building the vehicles and the internals as well as re-engineering the tracks and in the end it was a total waste. It was worse than a waste as they permanently compromised the PM in the process and now after years and years of nothingness we are left with speculation and many more years of waiting, as well as that constant reminder of what could have been or should have been, the old tracks all around TM.

Rocket Rods could have been really cool if they only spent what was needed and if they were not going to do just that they should have left PM alone so it would still be an attraction and a classic to boot.

Awe, it just makes me kinda mad! Oh well, I think I'm off to Disneyland for the evening!
