Will we be disappointed???

Stick with the Poly.
I know I always second guess myself all the time. In fact, for our Poly trip this holiday season, I was actually thinking of switching our resort, until my wife talked me out of it. Now, I think I would be regretting it if I did switch and would probably be trying to re-book the Poly.

If you want to stay at CBR, well, now you have a reason to go next year!

I actually already switched from WLV to the Poly! And for the reason you just gave!

You could also do a split stay between two resorts. You would only save about $950 Canadian, but that would be the best of both worlds... a savings, without totally giving up the Poly!

I have given this some serious thought too. Hmmmm...

I like this idea and we do this from time to time. The other thing to consider is if you change to CBR will you be beating yourself up as you ride the monorail past the Poly or when you are waiting for a bus.

I know I will!

I agree with the others stick with Poly for all the reasons you stated. It's your dream and you know what life is short. Everyone deserves to have a Disney Dream come true. Enjoy your dream.

no matter how much you save, it won't be worth if you are just wondering "would it have been better if...".
we stayed at the contempo last december and LOVED it - 5 min walk to mk, view of fireworks from the resort, BIG rooms, quiet pool area...
i have booked for YC this december and am worried i will regret it but we want more/better food options so think close to epcot/closer to downtown disney will fit the bill.

Last year was our first family trip and first time staying on-site. We booked the Poly but jumped ship when we heard the pool was closing. We headed to GF. A trip of a lifetime...so we thought! We thought we wouldn't be back for many years, so we went all out! Well, fast forward less than 2 months after our trip...DH starts talking about a trip during Spring break. (I'm a teacher, so the timing is perfect for us all). We realized we were hooked to Disney and there was no denying it! Well, after investigating the crowds, cost and how little time we'd be there in March, we decided on another summer trip, with 11 days instead of 5. In planning, it started out with a moderate, but ended with the poly! I think the initial stay ruined us for going moderate? Do you think that's true????

What can I say? Shoulda been at the Poly last year, right? Now I don't want any regrets. So, I guess my point is, I think I have my mind made up. :yay::flower::flower1:

Thanks to everyone for your responses and words of advice!!! The Poly it is!!! :yay::thumbsup2:cheer2:party::wave2:::yes::

If your family loves Epcot, then it's a great choice! My family wasn't big on Epcot, but I love World Showcase.

You know my husband?? Lol
No, but I know mine(LOL) and he did not like CBR when we stayed. He said it was too much bus time for him. We stayed Grand Floridian last visit and we all loved the convenience of being on the monorail. We spent so much less time running around for transportation. Makes for a less hectic vacation and everyone including DH is happy

Congratulations on your decision!! The Poly is a wonderful choice! You will love staying there!

Perhaps you should read up online about them and look at some pics to have realistic expectations. Have a great vacation wherever you choose to stay!! Good luck deciding!
I just wanted to throw in here that if you look at the pictures of the rooms, do not look at the pictures of the rooms for CBR on the Disney website. CBR just finished renovations on their rooms not too long ago and for some weird reason, Disney has not updated the room photos on their site. (They can spend all of that time renovating rooms and can't take a few minutes to change pictures online...makes no sense). They did a great job on the renovations. It is a completely different look in the rooms now. If you want updated photos of the rooms, I suggest going to the CBR thread here and checking out the first page. It is loaded with tons of information and photos. Good luck on your decision!

yes!! if they have been re-done they absolutely need to update the room photos on the website. we were considering this one and when i looked at the rooms, i couldn't do it. dh and kids felt the same way, didn't work for us at all.

I have stayed at both resorts and I would keep Poly. Since DH and I started going together, and we stayed at a deluxe property, he won't even think of staying at anything but a deluxe. This comes from a man who spends very little and we don't spend much time in the resort! Granted, I haven't stayed at the Poly since the majority of the construction has started, but it is a great resort. Make everyone happy by following your heart(and gut)! It's a great place to enjoy the Fireworks without being in the park.

Unless you're set on CR or Poly, the Contemporary Garden Wing might be a good compromise. You'd still have monorail access and its super close to MK, also it is priced lower but the rooms are very nice like the main building. Maybe stay at CBR and rent a car with a fraction of the savings so you don't have to wait for the bus and it'll be easier to take breaks/go where you want to.

The rooms are awesome now!
