Will we be comfy in a studio?

You will be fine with a studio for 8 days at BWV.

It will definately feel a little tight but you have a balcony, and as long as
you are prepared things should be OK.

Lets say 8 nights studio or 4 nights 1-bedroom. I would take the 8 nights.

Enjoy!!!

We just did ten nights in a studio at VWL, three adults, an almost five year old and a 20 month old. Honestly, we didn't fold the sofa bed up lol. The only draw back was getting the toddler to sleep, while the 5 year old was still up. My Mom and my husband were great and took the 5 year old for a walk so the baby could go to sleep, on the nights we didn't all crash at the same time. We had only done one bedrooms up until this point and I was nervous, but we kept our junk to a minimum and used the free washer and dryer downstairs every other day and it was fine.

Hard question. We may have different comfort levels.
exactly
i think a studio for 2 people is perfect (i wouldn't even consider a 1-bdrm for our 2 adult trips - all we really care about is BW view, we could not care less about a full kitchen or jacuzzi).
we do get a 1-bdrm for 3-4 ppl, simply for the additional floor space with that many people.

btw, the sofabeds are very comfy:)

It just depends on the family. When at home do you often stay in the same room? Have you taken vacations where you were all in a regular hotel room for that length of time. The studios at WDW (except for OKW) are smaller than regular hotel rooms at the newer Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn or Comfort Inn and Suites, which sort of surprised me that Disney calls the DVC studios, deluxe studios. But they are much bigger than a cabin on most cruise ships. And many families have taken one week cruises. If you can deal with a cabin on a cruise ship a studio villa will be a piece of cake.

I say when cabin fever strikes, it's time to head to the pool, community hall, video game room or walk the Boardwalk. And to make your room feel bigger, close up the sofa each morning. Have a great trip.

Whether or not you will be "comfy" in a studio is all relative to the individuals.

In our case, the reason we purchased DVC was because were were not comfy in regular hotel rooms. We wanted the benefit of having a separate sleeping area from our two daughters and extra room.

I would go for a one bedrom for fewer nights, if necessary. Then I would look into adding on more points, lol. Good luck in your decision.. :)

Hmm the last time we booked a studio was when I was 15 or 16 and stayed in the room at SSR with my parents. It wasn't bad at all because we don't cook when we're on vacation, we're used to sharing two queen bed rooms during our vacations, and we spend a small amount of time in the room and most of the time in the parks. That being said, as a previous poster mentioned, space & being comfortable is all relative. I personally think it wouldn't be a big deal, but I definitely agree in making sure you all have your own personal space. It's great if your room comes with a balcony because that's another nook to just get out of each other's way. We also try to use all the facilities in the resort we're staying at when we're sharing a small hotel room- such as the community hall, lobby, and pool.

As previous posters mentioned, the sofa bed isn't hard to deal with at all and it's nice to have the space when you do end up folding up the sofa bed. This is a really embarrassing note to add, but I am so bad at folding up those beds! hahaha I got good last year when I shared the sofa bed in a 1 bedroom in the concierge level of Jambo House with my best friend. However, I'll be by myself on the sofa bed this upcoming trip in a 1 bedroom in BWV. Hopefully I'll get it after day 3 haha.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I think we will like staying in a studio. The only thing I will really miss is the jacuzzi tub. As far as adding more points we did this past summer. I'm hoping that DVC will deceide soon that the Poly needs some DVC Villas. Then I will definently do another add-on.

For twice the amount of pts we'll take the studio, thank you very much. Right now, it's just my wife and I, but when we have a kid I'll have no problem having them use the pull out. I'd rather be able to go twice as long than worry about "private time," cooking, or doing laundry. Besides, you can always find time for private time. Where there's a will, there's a way!

We're studio'd out....queen bed...small room...paper plates, but as Walt Disney said "happiness is really just a state of mind, it just depends on how you look at things" we'll you'll really the best judge.

If you spend a lot of resort time you may find a studio pretty cramped. DH, DD (6) generally stay in 1BRs now since we spend a lot of time at the resort. I hate to overpack so I love the in room laundry. I would rather throw in one small load each evening than have a lot of luggage.

Our rule of thumb is 4 nights or less we may stay in a studio (or regular room), anything longer we stay in a 1BR. We have done split stays where we are in a studio for 3 or 4 nights over a weekend when we know we will be spending more time in the parks and than use the 1BR for our resort time. If we do spilt stays we pick different resorts to get different experiences.

Good Luck and have fun!

Gail
