Will we be able to transfer the new tickets to someone else?

LibertyBelle, I have a question that maybe you can answer. We are travelling with a group and I was told that everyone in the reservation would have to purchase a package. My friend has an annual pass and she doesn't want to purchae a package with tickets because of the AP. My question is can she save and use the package tickets at a later time? For example, on her next trip when her annual pass expires? Thanks so much.

Geyser... old tickets will remain the way they currently are. There will be no biometric reader on them....

Tiggerlover... yes, if you are booking one of the packages everyone has to have tickets... But unless you are booking the MYW Premium Package everyone does not have to have the same ticket. So your friend can get a ticket that would suit her for her next trip... The ticket itself is not activiated until the first time it goes through the turnstile, so if they purchase it on the package and don't use it, they can bring it back and use it next time (the expiration portion starts from first use...not purchase date). If they do end up using the ticket for some reason on your current trip then they would need to purchase the no expiration option in order to use it on the next trip. Does that make sense.

I was told by the manager at our local Disney Store that they would carry the new tickets starting January 2nd and ticketmania is saying as of 1/4 they will also have them. How will they have your name on them and the biometric thing if you buy them there, or will they be voucher type things like the AP's? So glad to hear the biometrics are only for adults. Trying to get my 6 year old with autism to stick his finger in that thing would be a nightmare! Also, you will be able to get these tix without a package right? And why can't you add the dining option on without a package? We will be staying on DVC points and adding on the dining would be something we would love to take advantage of, but it looks like that is just for packages? Thanks for all of your helpful info LibertyBelle!

And even for adults, they don't force the issue of biometrics if the adult has a disability that make doing the biometrics difficult (at least in our experience).

I also would like to hear an answer to Carrieberry's question about purchasing at an alternate site.

If you purchase your ticket from the Disney store or AAA, will the ticket include the name imprinted and the biometrics, or are they added at the park the first day you use the ticket?

The biometric part is encoded the first time you go through the turnstiles. As for the name, it may or may not be on the ticket. If you are staying at a WDW resort it will be on the ticket but if you purchase the ticket elsewhere, it might not be, but will still be encoded to the person at first use.

Yes, PLEASE, if you are in Disney always take your picture ID with you. I can't tell you how many guests come in to buy AP's and don't have a picture ID. Most say because they are staying in a Disney resort and take the transportation it is not needed. Well now it very much will be needed. Save yourself the trouble in case a ticket gets lost, you don't know how much is left, or you want to purchase a ticket and BRING ID! The CM is not suppose to sell AP's, and as of Jan 2, tickets without them, nor or they supposed to read tickets without asking for a picture ID. Many guests get upset with the CM's for asking, but it is for the protection of the guest and their purchase of the tickets. Children will not need an ID as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid picture ID. Biometrics will not be used with a child's ticket, the child's fingers grow too quickly at that age and they wouldn't match anyway. They won't have to adjust the height of the machines, however they will be adding new ones to accomodate all of those who will have the new tickets.

A good thing is everyone will be in the Disney Computer system, so like AP's now, if you loose your ticket, you will only have to take your picture ID and have it looked up to have it reprinted. No more copying the back or trying to hang on to receipts. See there is a Silver lining!
