The Monorail Society ( http://www.monorails.org/ ) has an excellent website, which includes the advantages of monorails over other forms of transportation.
Now I'm not one to but....
I did read some comments awhile back from a WDI employee who claimed to have seen the blueprints for S&D, and they did allow for monorail stations in both resorts. And I have read the interview with Graves where he states the black squares are just design elements, So who knows.
Here's another rumor from way back: foundations for monorail pylons are in place around World Showcase!
I had no idea such things (blueprints) existed! I also had no idea so many people have such strong opinions about this subject. I do know the monorail is super expensive. A driver told me it's somewhere in the range of a "million dollars for each foot of track" (which seems outrageous, but probably close).
Horace--thanks for clearing-up the "black square" myth! I never even thought about this one. LOL. I just thought it may be nice if they would expand the train (monorail) into one of the parks (even AKL). It's such a nice form of transportation--almost like an attraction itself!
The only good thing about DCA is the short lines for the soup.
Soarin is literally the only worthwhile thing in the park and then only because I have an annual pass.
Sometimes I'll go on the clones and pretend I'm at Walt Disney World. Or watch the MSEP to relive fond memories of the past.
I also like to Watch Whoopi saves California and Laugh at the inaccurate revisionist bull poop history they show.
Again, I would never explicitly pay a dime to do this.
Also, I didn't personally do this, but I hear it made a great queue for the Disneyland Birthday.
So basically what I'm saying is there's nothing did that intentionally makes it fun.
