Will Value/Mod Be A Letdown When We've Only Stayed Deluxe

We've stayed at all three levels (see siggie). I can't handle the values. We're kidless - so that may have something to do with it. Both times we stayed at values was for 1 night only (once was a spur of the moment trip, the other was tacking an extra day on the start of our trip to avoid snowstorm in Chicago)

The mods are OK - they are beautiful and still offer a ts restaurant - but they're really spread out so you do a LOT of walking.

Stupid thing - but one of the things we like at the deluxe is the extra mickey toiletries. Of course that alone is not worth the extra $$$, but the additional transportation options and proximity to the parks definitely is for us!

What kind of toiletries do they give you at deluxe resorts? I really don't like the mickey toiletries at the mods. Does anyone know what brand they are?

You get the same stuff. In the deluxes, though, you get some body lotion, a toothbrush, teeny toothpaste (Crest, I think), and a shower cap. Sometimes I'm missing something...maybe it varies from deluxe to deluxe, maybe they're out, maybe housekeeping isn't doing its job...I dunno.

The body lotion doesn't smell good, is greasy, and doesn't leave your hands soft once the grease is gone. So, it works about as well as the shampoo/conditioner. If you need hand lotion, bring your Keri (or whatever you use) along. :)

You can reserve a room with a king bed. I don't know if you need two, though...maybe for kids.

Yeah, that's it - we have two kids, so we need the twin doubles. :sad2:

I'm sure it'll be fine. In any event, it'll be si years since we last went when we go - I'm suffering from so many withdrawal symptoms that sleeping is the least of my worries! :lmao:

Unless you stay at the Grand Floridian, theirs are different from the other resorts and very nice.

Order of our stays

ASMO - 2 rooms
POR
OKW - 2 bed villa
GF
POFQ
POP - 2 rooms
CBR

The only resort we didnt like was Pop C - too big and noisy, rooms drab. No problems swithching between moderate and deluxe/ DVC Next trip in August I am hoing ASMU family suites will be aailable as a package.

We've stayed at the Poly, All Stars, Contemporary, and next trip will be Wilderness Lodge. Our stay at the All Stars wasn't disappointing, just different - different in a way that you can't really compare a stay at the Marriott to a stay at the Days Inn. The All Stars was what we could afford at the time - we were staying for 8 nights and we had a party of 6 and two rooms at All Stars was about $59 per night each on the special offered at the time.

The All Stars was large, lines were long, and I felt like it was the training ground for CM's, including the bus drivers. You could tell that the better CM's and bus drivers are working at the Deluxe properties - as they should be. We reminded ourself that if we were staying the extra days AND had 6 in our party that All Stars was a part of the compromise. The upside - we had two bathrooms and connecting bedrooms!

I wasn't disappointed in a way that would keep me from staying there again, but it made me appreciate the touches of a deluxe all the more!

I have to tell you just a tidbit. The CM's at the deluxe properties don't make anymore money than at the values so I don't think they are any better. Just because a CM works at the values doesn't make him/her a second class citizen at any rate. I don't think Disney intentionally puts their next CM's who are in training stationed at the values resorts at all, they put them wherever they are needed. Jeezz!!!!!!!!!

I don't think you will. We really can't afford the Delux, but still want to experience them so we ussually do a night or two, then spend the rest in a value/off-site. most recently we did Poly then Pop. There was a definate difference, but not to bad as we only really slept there. If you plan on acctually spending time there, you may be a little dissapointed. The food is not as good and you don't get a coffee maker, hair dryer or fridge (extra charge unless you have a medical reason). The pools however are still pretty good (no slides though) and all Dis resorts are pretty clean in my amateur opinion.
