Will two 50 something adults regret staying at HIFS?

We are two 50 something adults that need an off site room for two nights over the Thanksgiving Holiday. The Lake Buena Vista HIFS appears to be a very nice hotel, conveniently located. The buy one get one free promotion is also attractive.

However, I am wondering if this is a hotel that is really targeted for families with children. Will two adults (no kids along) be uncomfortable here? We will be spending most of the day & early evening hours away from the hotel and don't plan to use the pool or hot tub. Should we expect the hotel (and room) to be noisy? Would we feel out of place in the breakfast buffet?

TIA for any comments/opinions.

Hi, Carol:

Nearly every hotel in Orlando centrally located to WDW is geared towards families, IF THEY'RE SMART! :teeth: It's the nature of the beast.

I will say this, though. My sister, who is near 50 and VERY antsy about being around lots of kids LOVED this hotel! Her child is 30 and she prefers not to be around them... We invited her down during one trip to spend 3 days with us on a weeklong vacation. She was truly amazed by how much the hotel offers and has told everyone she knows about it since!

The buffet does get busy, but I found it orderly and comfortable. You can also take your food up to your room and eat if you like.

I also couldn't pass up the Buy One Get One Free Deal and jumped on it for New Years Eve. We got the Residential Suite since they were out of kids suites. The Classic is also a nice choice for kidless people.

Or maybe the Sweetheart Suite? ;) That's IF they offer it on BOGO!

Have fun!

Thanks for the reply and the link, Robin. We like kids - just mostly worried about feeling out of place. I appreciate hearing about your sister.

Just called and was able to get the Buy one, Get One Free Deal for a 1 bedroom, N/S King Residential Suite. (Sweetheart Suite wasn't available :(). I was surprised to find the BOGOF offer available over Thanksgiving weekend! The total for two nights (including the 11% tax) works out to be $179.82. That's only $89.91 per night and since it includes the breakfast buffet, I think it's a very good value.

Thanks to everyone who has posted about the HIFS and the promotions. These boards are so helpful!

Carol, you will have a great time. There are two sections to the hotel. One area is family-oriented with the kidsuites and the second is more adult oriented...and 'sides, we're all kids when it comes to Disney!:bounce:

Hi CarolMN- The HIFS does have a somewhat quieter side. I believe it on the West track side of the hotel. The kids pool section is a lot noisier. If you arrive at the buffet early, there's usually no lines and you can eat in relative peace. After about 8:30am it starts to get a bit hectic. If you don't need a full kitchen, you might want to consider requesting a Cinema suite. Instead of the full kitchen, the extra room has a 60" color t.v. with home theater sound. You could rent a movie for a nice end to your day.

Carol - hubbie and i stayed there - without kids - in Feb 2001 for a few days - we are 50+ also and had a wonderful time. We stayed in the Chatanooga section- 4th floor facing the pool and never had noise problems at all. Go ahead and enjoy yourselves.

Thanks to all for taking the time to post. You've made me glad that I asked the question. Can't wait to get there.

You were shocked about Thanksgiving??? I got New Year's Eve and New Year's Day BOGO!! Imagine my shock!

Note: I've been trying to get a deal on those two days for weeks. To get them at this rate was phenomenal! Yes, these boards really can save you a bundle, even us "moderator" types! :teeth:

Have a great trip, Carol....

You, too!

Thanks again to all who replied! I love hearing others' good experiences and am happy to hear about the separate section.

We stayed with my 50something year old parents there two Xmases ago, and ended up in the end down by the quiet pool due to wanting the suites with two queen beds (not a kidsuite). It was very quiet and peaceful, and there was rarely anyone in the quiet pool. Their "senior" special rate starts at age 50, and is a good deal, but probably can't beat the BOGO. My only quibble was with staffing, so I would say to inspect your room carefully as soon as you get into it, and ask immediately to be moved rather than to have something fixed (you don't want to hear my story about that, either). Really a good deal for the $$.
