Will this work with DME

We are coming down in June and are planning on arriving on a Friday night. We are going to go to Universal our first day. We are going to go to Universal on Saturday then Saturday night move to our Disney resort.
I got a rate of $30 on a car to pick up Friday night. I was thinking we would finish our day at Universal, go do a quick grocery shop since we are in a villa, drop the kids, groceries and luggage off at our Disney resort then go back to MCO to return the car. Can we set it up to take DME the day after our flight?
I looked into returning the car close to Disney but the rates went so high doing a different drop off than the pick up location.

Oh, I'm looking at doing something similar--hopefully someone has experience with this!

We frequently fly in from the west coast the night before, stay at a hotel near the airport, then take DME sometime the next day. Never had a problem. I don't see this as being too different. Not sure I would be vocal that you are coming from Universal, but don't think you'll have a problem.

Yes - just make the reservation and either tell them the time you want to leave the airport or pick a flight that lands around the time you want to leave. For the return just use your actual flight.

I have better luck calling DME directly but I don't have the number on hand right now sorry.

Not a problem. You really shouldn't have to 'do' anything special. You don't need to fly in on the same day as your resort reservation starts. I would just make the reservation, choosing a flight that arrives around the time you plan to drop the car off. Many people do this...it's just not an issue.

Thanks for all the help. That is what I was thinking but wanted to double check before going ahead with it.

And they aren't going to care that you were at universal. If you get a dme cm on the phone that thinks you can't do it they would think that no matter what you were do if on Friday. Say goodbye and call back. :)

Let me add this...and I apologize to those that have heard this ad nauseum......DME doesn't care how you arrive at MCO. They care that you have an active WDW resort reservation. That's it. You can arrive at the airport, at any time, via plane, train, automobile, or yak!! They don't care! You don't need to 'call' anyone....you make your DME reservation the same way as everyone else. When it comes to airline info, just give them flight info that matches the time you are arriving at MCO. The airline doesn't matter, it doesn't matter than you aren't arriving on said airline. You will drop off your car, go to the DME checkin area, and board the bus.
If you call DME you may get the 'I'm sorry but you can't use DME if you've already checked in at the resort' spiel. And that isn't true.

We are planning on staying at the airport Hyatt since our flight lands at 11pm. I made a deal with DH that if he lets us take the night flight on Friday (instead of the afternoon flight on Saturday), I would not make him set an alarm for Saturday morning. Checkout isn't until noon so that's the latest we would be heading out to DME. I haven't called to book it yet, but since I have a DVC reservation, I'm supposed to book it through Member Services. Do I really even need to give a flight number? Since we could be leaving anywhere between 9am and noon, is it better to pick a flight that is arriving on the early end or later end of that window? In other words, is there any difference in being too early or too late? I'm very familiar with how DME works which is why I don't understand the NEED to give them flight information.

I agree 100 %

Except with DVC and when you have already made your resort reservation then you will have to call DME directly or member services to add your DME reservation.
If folks call CRO or use the link then a dummy flight is necessary and this sometimes confuses guests.

FWIW I have always had excellent service when calling DME directly and booking DME without a flight; varying arrivals and departures and or on a day other than our resort arrival or departure day and I have done this over a dozen times.

This is why I often mention calling DME directly vs Central Reservations when adding DME to an existing reservation.

I seldom book DME until my flughts are set. With DVC, I do it online. So I don't think I've ever actually called anyone to reserve my ride.
Why give 'fake' flight info? For arrivals you shouldn't have to. But...you sometimes get someone, on the other end of the phone, who insists you add flight info....so it might be best to have something ready to tell them. Silly? Absolutely.
