will this transfer work?

I have HH points and need 103 more to make the resie I want. I need to book 1st thing at the 11 month window. The day I need to book is Sept 17 (for a trip on Aug 17, 2014). I found someone who is willing to transfer but his points are Oct UY. He has points from 2012 that he banked (can't transfer those, right?) and he has points from 2013 (coming in Oct so can't transfer now, right?). I don't see how any of his points can be transferred to me between now and Sept 17 for me to book on Sept 17...am I right?

You are correct on the banked 2012 points, they cannot be transferred.

However he already "has" his 2013 points available to use. He does not have to wait until Oct 2013 to either transfer the points, borrow the points for his 2012 UY or make a reservation during his 2013 UY.

So, he can transfer now Oct 2013 points for you to call in Sept to make an Aug 2014 reservation.

We figured we'll just book a 2BR and studio, for 5 weeknights, with our own points. Just need 15 more points for the 5th night in the studio (will already be buying 13 OTU points for the 4th night). We'll try to use our OKW points at 7 months out. This saves us the $1339 for the transfer and we likely wouldn't have gotten the 3BR GV that we needed the transfer for anyway. Thanks, though, for clearing up the whole transfer process...I have such a hard time grasping the whole UY stuff.

You do realize that OTU (one time use) points can only be used at 7 months out.

Oh, shoot. I knew that and forgot. I guess we'll be booking 4 nights in the 2BR and studio at 11 months out and then trying to get the 5th night at 7 months with our OKW or AKV (AKV is same UY and member #, so that will work better).

Edit- Actually, what I think we'll do is book all 5 nights in the studio and 4 nights in the 2BR at 11 months out...then add the last night in the 2BR at 7 months (there are way more 2BRs than studios, so we'll have a better shot). And if we can't get it, we'll just cancel the 5th night in the studio and go for 4 nights. Studio is for my DS and his buddy, but the stipulation is that he has to have a good 11th grade year in order to bring a friend. And if he has a super good year, he can bring 2 friends. If he has a bad year, I'll cancel the studio all together or rent it (so it's best to have that all booked under 1 resie and not 2 linked).
