Will this be GOOD enough?

Thank you all for your great advise and taking the time to help us roll this around. I think we are more leaning towards staying at universal the entire 6 nights and taking Cammy (baby girl) to MK for the day. If the others want to come they can OR we also tossed around the idea of just stealing her away for the week for a Cammy only trip to MK separate from this vacation. I understand a lot of ya'll travel a distance to enjoy WDW as a whole. We are only a 4 hour car ride away and we are a easy to please bunch so for us just being their and doing a little is a lot. I am so over the days of daylight to dark in a theme park. My oldest is 24 and i am slowing it down a bit. We like to take it all in just at a slower pace then most I guess.

I think this is fine! We do 9 park days, no pool or resort days. We are a Disney family. If we spent one day at universal just to check it out, I think my kids would be fine. We did this once when my 14 year old was really too little to do much over there. This is a great way to see if you might want to book a trip at a later date as a Disney trip and maybe Universal on the side. I hope y'all enjoy your trip!

Thank you we head out to universal in two weeks so we have time to debate, this will be Cammy's first time to USO so i feel like we will get a better idea after this trip.

Soooo I don't think one day is a colossal waste of time or money. I had a terrible summer and hubby is sending me for one night (from Canada) with my best friend to Disney. We arrive Friday lunch, are going to Disney springs and hang out at our resort (CSR business class). Next day we are sleeping in, eating in the lounge, then closing MK with EMH until midnight. Will head to airport once bCk at the hotel and catch our 6am flight. We have to be there around 2am anyways hahha

OP. I think it sounds like fun. Depending where you are staying (I've only read a couple of posts), I would add on one more park day. If not MK, consider One of the other three. All special in their own way. Maximize fast passes and have fun! It'll be a busy busy time, so just go in knowing that. I would switch going to Disney springs to the day you check out. You can easily hit all the hot spots in 1-3 hours. It'll eat that off the uni part, but it's that last taste of Disney . I personally say one day in Disney is better than none. So go for it!

I'd say this is a great idea. You can just go over to Disney for a day or two if you want your 10 year old to experience the parks.

I would let the older girls decide if they want to do MK or not and sneak off for the day. Your 10 year old will have a great time! Or a Cammy only trip would work as well. Let me say though DH and I are on a rare adult only trip and our 30 year old who couldn't attend is having some serious withdrawals lol. I get text and email advice daily. (We had a great time on the dark side today btw)

To be fair, the op asked for opinions. I also would not bother if I was only going one day to a WDW park and I was taking a 10 yo for her first trip. I would either change plans to add time or plan to go another time.

My girls are not selfish, I allow time for THREE grown children to bath, do their hair and clean up sharing ONE bathroom. It takes time to get ready and as a mom of 6 girls I know how long they are going to be. It is what it is. I was not wasting park tickets I was suggesting one day one park ticket being the magic kingdom. I know everyone vacations differently. For us we actually want to have a relaxing vacation not feel like someone beat are tails tired once we are home. I guess that's why we enjoy the beach vacations so much. I just did'nt want to KILL us with go, go , go.

This is what we are doing next month. We're only doing a 2 night trip. In fact, we're only attending mickeys Halloween party the day we arrive and the next day will be a relaxing pool day and whatever else we want to do day (probably include the Cinderella thing at the GF). We have a character bfst reserved the day we check out and we'll probably check out what they did to DTD before our drive home (We're also a 4 hour drive). We normally stay longer and hit the parks each day, boom boom boom, but this time we just wanted to get away for a little bit and take it easy.
I think your ten year old will be fine with 1 day at MK. If she really enjoys it, then you can plan a longer trip for next time.

Regarding the bathroom issue. Since you are considering staying off site, might I suggest renting a home or condo. Maybe Wyndham Bonnet creek, Sheraton Vistana or Windsor Hills.

You can get a home or condo with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms for a price similar to what you would pay for a Disney room

We are huge dark-side fans. Looking to take our first trip as a blended family to WDW. Me and my hubby are 47, and 50. Kids are 22, 20, 16, and 10 year olds first trip. I thought we'd try to stay onsite for 3 nights. Planning to go Monday 29th memorial leaving on Thursday.

So check in day: Character Meal
Tuesday- MK resort for BK and QS in the park and possible CR meal
Wenesday: Enjoy the resort and hang out at Disney Springs and Raglan Road
Move to HRH we have AP so they can go as much or as little as they want to.

Is this GOOD enough at Disney? I want my 10 year old to enjoy the day in the park and the resorts and Disney Resorts. Suggestions please. Thank ya'll.

No way is it enough time. You need at least 4 days in the park for a quick first trip. You can't even see everything in the Magic Kingdom in one day.

I would tell them they have an hour, or they have to get up early enough to be ready by the time the parks open. No way would I waste precious time for primping, when after an hour it will all be undone anyway. If you are only going to be in the park one day, getting there at park open is a must. Those first 2 hours you will get so much done!

LOL! I tell my crew what time we are leaving. I don't care how they manage it, shower at night, get up at the crack of dawn, whatever. This bus leaves with or without you. We have traveled with up to 9 in the group and with all different ages. When its time, we go. And every one is ready. When you vacation as an extended family, you may need to change your routine a bit. I think it all comes down to what is the priority. SO far so good for us.
