We want to try Universal. We were there about 25 years ago, but I'm sure it's completely different.

We figured we would get a 1 day, 2 park pass and check it out.

One question is, if we feel we want to upgrade to an AP can we put the cost of the 1 day ticket toward the AP ??

Second question, I'm torn on which AP to get? We live (according to my GPS) 2.6 miles away. I could sooo survive on the el chéapo pass with the exception of the parking. We also want to try HHN which one night is included with the big mama pass.

I don't need valet (although it would be nice), and don't need things such as hotel discounts.

Shoot... One more question. From my reading we would be VERY interested in the Mardi Gras event. Is that generally a seperate ticketed event? If so, does any particular AP level five discounts??

Thank you for your help!!!

Mardi Gras is free for everyone

Sounds like the preferred or premier AP would work for you

Both have discounts for food and merch and onsite hotel rooms
And free parking in the garage

Thanks... That's the exact type of info I'm looking for.

Yes you can upgrade your ticket to the AP
You can do this in the park at guest services

You pay the difference from ticket to ap

Anyone know how much it costs to upgrade to a prefered AP from a 3 park unlimited ticket AFTER you enter the park?? Trying to budget for it.

You can't upgrade a 3 park unlimited ticket. It is a shared park ticket between Universal and Wet 'n Wild.

Are you sure?? This totally upsets me bc I booked an AP discount on my room based on upgrading to an AP and scheduling another Universal trip to bring my kids back:((

That has always been the case with the 3 park tickets.

You should definitely give guest services a call just to see if policies have changed.

Have you already purchased the 3 park tickets? You can probably exchange them before you use them for something different.

wet and wild closes at
The end of this year

Those with the 3 park tickets if not expired should contact guest services to see how they will be adjusted

Okay almost had a major heart attack!!!! I called guest services and told them I had called On Sat and spoke to someone and was told I could upgrade. I then called and changed my SMSM room rate to AP rate which had popped up that morning. When you just told me I couldn't upgrade I nearly died !!! I could just picture getting to the hotel and finding out that my room rate was now going to skyrocket for each of my three nights. I just called guest services and they were able to go back, find the record of my phone call on Saturday morning and listen to the conversation (all calls are recorded). Apparently I was in fact told the wrong information. Universal completely understood since there was proof on the phone call and has agreed to let me upgrade my ticket since I was told I was able to. Thank The Lord I will get to keep my AP room rate

Yay!!!! That's awesome news!

I'm sorry to have given you a heart attack but I guess it was better than getting there and having a heart attack!

I always thought when you called Disney or Universal and were on hold, the automated message saying your call will be recorded was kind of strange. Now I thank God they record the conversations and are able to go back and listen to them!!!!!!!!:banana::banana::banana:

Can you IMAGINE??!!! I would have dropped to the ground when my room rate went from $169/night (AP rate) to Who knows what reg rate/night:scared1:

A happy ending !!

UO is easy to work with
Yes calls are recorded but that is to benefit customers and employees

Glad that the op did not have a heart attack

Good news all around... One more Q:

The UO website seems to advertise cheaper prices than gate. If I buy a 1 day to check things out, how should I do that?

1 day at gate, upgrade on line?
1 day on line upgrade on line?
1 day at gate upgrade at gate?

You get the drift.

Even though prices seem to be cheaper on line, are upgrades permissible online?

Sorry for all the questions. Yes, I'm a UO newb.

I don't know how the ticket could be upgraded online

Have not ever read of anyone doing so

Do know that you can update tickets before the expire at guest services

It could be tickets you bought online or at the gate
Use your ticket to enter the park and its value will become the fare price

Do the park and decide you want p2p tickets, that can be done that day in the park

Decide you want to upgrade to an AP at the end of your trip, that too can be done

As long as you do so by the last day in the park , you can upgrade as long as it is done before the park closes that day

When I was at Universal Studios for HHN last year, my wife and I bought 3 day Florida resident tickets. We used 1 day for HHN and went back just shy of 6 months later (when they would have expired) to use our last 2 days.

I was able to upgrade the tickets to Florida resident Annual Passes for the two of us for the difference in price between what we paid and what the passes were selling for at the time, which worked out to be $15 for the least expensive annual passes.

The only down side is that the year started 6 months earlier when we used the 1st day of the 3 day tickets but that's ok as it worked out that I still got a 7 month pass for $15. (7 because at the time they were doing a promotion for a 13th month free.)
