we are sailing on the Disney Wonder on 12-15, the days Star Wars should premiere. We are HUGE Star Wars fans , especially my 7 yo son and 9 yo daughter. Will they show it onboard?? And if so, any tips to make sure we get a seat??

We were onboard when Rogue One came out and they did show it.

Edit to add: they had it showing in both the big theater and the movie theater, and continued to play it throughout the cruise.

Since Walt Disney Motion Picture Studios is a distributor of this film, yes it will be shown onboard. Opening day is Dec 15. There will be a 12:01 (midnight) show in the Walt Disney Theater. That's the midnight that changes the 14th to the 15th. Then there will be multiple showings (probably in both the WDT and Buena Vista Theater).

At least that's how DCL usually does movie premieres. Yes, they will show a PremEAR at sea on the last night of a cruise.

Your cruise will have some pretty sleepy people debarking on the 15th, most likely.

They will show it at 12:01 am on the 12/15 - it will be a late night and early morning for your departure.

Actually we are embarking on the 15th. Our cruise sails the 15-22 on the Wonder out of Galveston. So obviously we would like to see it that night. But with all the other fun stuff ...whew!! I suggested we could do a midnight showing at a regular movie theatre the night before we leave but DH wants to see it onboard. Good thing we live close to Galveston.

but possibly (and probably) not the first night in the Walt Disney Theater. First night is typically the "Welcome Aboard Show"

For anyone who cruised DCL when Beauty and the Beast embarking on Friday, March 17th (Dream or Magic) - did they show BATB on the first night as the WDT entertainment?

I loved seeing the Beauty and the Beast prem-EAR on the Fantasy, and I also enjoyed Rogue One in the WD theatre there, too. But when I saw Rogue One in the theatre on land - that was amazing. I'm not saying anything against the ship theatres, but unless you live in a small town, you probably have some state of the art theatres in your area where the leg room, cushions and arm rests are designed for 2 hour movies with munchies. You could see it on land, as you've suggested and then follow up with watching it on the ship. Depending on how good it is, you may get several chances to see it for 'free'.

They will probably show it one night as the "main event" or evening show. We have timed both our last two cruises in December to be on board for the Star Wars premiers. It's really a fun experience as we are Huge Star Wars fans. They sell a lot of things on the ship including special popcorn or drink holders as you watch the movie.

I know for the premiere of Star Wars the force awakens they showed it Thursday night and they showed it in both the Disney theater with 3-D end in the regular theater without 3-D. We saw it 2x, the second showing ended at 2:30 and we had to get up at 7 to dis embark
