Will they refund my trip?

I purchased a 5-day park hopper package with a 7-night stay at Pop Century. I’m supposed to check-in next Sunday.

I recently came in close contact with someone who had Covid. This requires me to quarantine for 14 days per state guidelines. I live in California.

I purchased the “Travel Protection Plan” that’s hosted by “Affinity Travel”. Do you think they’ll let me cancel and refund my money?

Is it the protection plan that Disney offers? If so I'd call Disney.
If its a 3rd party that you added a protection plan with then I'd contact that company directly.
You would not call Pop Century.
It was a protection plan that Disney offered via their website when I made the reservation. So I’ll contact them.
Thank you.

I thought you could cancel packages as long as it’s done at least two days before check in with just a $200 penalty, but hasn’t that been waived?

yes, according to research, it’s been extended until April 2021.
Call WDW

Definitely call.

The current policy:

Rooms and Packages
To provide additional flexibility, we are waiving Disney-imposed change and cancellation fees up to the date of check-in for reservations with arrivals through April 30, 2021. If Guests need further assistance, they can reach us at the Disney Reservation Center through our online chat feature or by calling our reservation line.

Please note that cancellation fees imposed by third-party suppliers, including airlines and rental cars, as well as non-refundable products like travel protection plans, are deducted from refundable amounts for Walt Disney Travel Company packages.

If you did not book through Disney directly, please contact your travel professional.

Disney would refund you with/without the travel protection...they're allowing cancelations with no penalty up until checkin right now.

That's probably why they refunded their travel protection plan premium.

Exactly!--I was sort of surprised to see they are still selling that to people. Seems almost a bit dishonest when it offers no meaningful protection above the basic cancellation policy.

It does cover you while you're on your trip for things such as medical, baggage delay, trip interruption, etc. So it still has value if you end up taking your trip.

True--so I guess that makes sense then that they would refund it since the coverage has no value if you cancel prior to going on the trip.
