"Will they keep this/cancel that" We are now Live from WDW, the Nicki & Todd show!

I had to lol when I read that Todd still doesn't know that the meatballs are made of lamb.

I was thinking the same thing :rotfl:

Hi everyone from home...bummer...but we did book a bounceback before we left...June 3 to the 7th and DH picked the resort, the CR main building with a MK view..40% off! He was really into the resort when we went to the Wave and Chef Mickeys this morning and I reminded him that we stayed there in 05 but the wing units and we didnt like it but it was his turn to choose so what can I say?

So far I think we will try China for dinner, Cali Grill for dinner and either Kona or GFC again....hmmm need to get on this right away!

Updates coming soon!

Glad you made it home safe & sound :goodvibes and I can't believe you have another trip planned. I'm so jealous :cutie: Can't wait to hear about your massage and final reviews :flower3:

No not like a biscotti in that it is soft. and creamy somehow? Oh really I am dying to get my hands on one when we get there. I think it's worth a try for you.

:goodvibes you had me at creamy and almonds!:rotfl2:

glad you are home safe and sound and that you have another trip booked! Can't wait to read more!

Thank you for your wonderful reviews! :cheer2: :flower3: I'm glad you made it home safe & sound :goodvibes I'm happy you've already got another trip booked - that's exciting!

Good to know you made it back home safe and sound! Thanks so much for the reviews and can't wait for the rest of them :goodvibes

Thanks for the wonderful reviews once again - so glad you have booked another trip and looking forward to the rest of your reviews :)

Darn it that pic of the nuvo just reminded me that I was supposed to get a bottle of it tonight!!! :rotfl:
thanks for the reviews these are the places i'm going so you're really helping!

Glad the pics and reviews help! I need to get a bottle of that stuff for my house too, I love it!

Tell our hubby that you need to come back in May so that you can continue your food research and keep the dissers happy. Thanks so much for taking time out of our trip for us. I love reading about all of your dining experiances.

Thank you! I told him we needed to go back earlier than Oct because I would get review withdrawls!

I hate mushrooms, and always get the cream cheese mashed potatos--they are heavenly. Sorry your piece of steak wasn' as good as Todd's, but glad you shared. And hope you have a great last day and look forward to the last of the reviews.

I like mushrooms, not love them like DH, and the risotto was so darn shroomy that I didnt much of it...next time I sub!

Clarification please..... On my list of drinks to try, I've written down Peach Schnapps Oolong Tea, which I found in one of your reviews. Is that the same as the Peach Snap? I'm hoping I can get it at dinner in Nine Dragons. If not, I'll try it later that night or the next day.

I'm very curious about the Nuvo. I started to get it a couple weeks ago, but chickened out. Would you mind describing it for me?

Yes the Peach Snap is the schnapps oolong frozen tea..so good its like booze-lite! The Nuvo is bubbly sweet vodka fruit-y champagne like drink...very good!

It's the perfect girly drink, though, isn't it? I wish they'd had stuff like this when my friends and I were all getting married - it would be a great drink to serve over ice at a bridal shower. :goodvibes

Enjoy your last day Nicki and don't despair ... there are more trips looming on your horizon. :thumbsup2

You should see big guy DH carrying around a little dinky glass of hot pink liquid..its a riot!

I had to lol when I read that Todd still doesn't know that the meatballs are made of lamb. Have a safe trip home.

You should have seen me trying to keep a straight face as he is oohing and aahing over his beloved meatballs...I thought I was going to bust a gut!

Thanks Nikki for a great review!!!

You all went to several places that I am trying for the first time. It's great to get such a detailed review! And the pictures are great. You've got me drooling at me desk :lmao:

Woohoo! I'm going the last weekend in May :goodvibes The 30th to June 3rd. I know it's gonna be hot, but its Disney, land of blasting AC in every attraction and store ;)

Yay we will probably see each other somewhere!

Hi MickeyNicki!

Loving the live report. As I am reading through your report and knowing that it is your mission to eat at every restaurant at wdw once, I was wondering which table side restaurant's do you still have to eat at? One more question, out of all of your CS and TS restaurants so far, which one is your favorite in each category (CS/TS)?

:rotfl: I dont know, it sure does seem like it! Our fav TS breakfast is Boma, lunch is now Sci Fi and dinner is Jiko. For CS breakfast would have to be Main Street, even tho the FTL is gone...and Tangierine Cafe for lunch..WPE in DTD is another fav.

As far as what we have left to try there are many places left! Narcoossies, V&A, Citricos, WCC, Marakesh, China, Rose & Crown, The Castle, Garden Grill, Brown Derby, Raglan Road, WPCafe, Artist Point, Cali Grill, and I am sure many more....but I will try to knock the off the list!

I will be going to Disney in a couple of weeks and I have reservations for some of the same places that you reviewed and I have really enjoy each of your reviews. I noticed that you got a filet at the Wave and I was wondering if that was a special request because I do not see it on the Menu that is listed on allears.net. I am actually staying at the Contemporary so if I could get a filet at the Wave then I would be so excited. Steak is my favorite and I did not see that option so that is why I did not book the Wave. I may have to change it now if so!

I hope you enjoy them as much as we did. The filet is actually the beef tenderloin and it was soooo good!

This thread is :cloud9:

I'm gonna spend the day in here. :lmao:

More coming up! I fell asleep last night so I didnt get to finish!

I just read through all 20 pages! Great reviews like always- thanks for sharing your vacation with us!:worship:

Thank you!

I think we're gonna change our ressies a bit (hotel choices only) we're still going to come down on the 23rd of Oct til the 1st of Nov. BUT I don't think we'll be staying at the Poly ( :sad1: ) it's not looking very good for that at the moment... but we'll still go to the Tambu for some drinks ;) I'll let you know what we decide though....

Can't wait to hear about the massage... I love getting a massage... Have fun at Chef Mickey's!

Uh oh, I hope my noise issue didnt sway you to ditch the Poly? Doesnt matter which bar we meet at they are all great!

Welcome home!!! We arrive on June 6th and are staying at AKL! :thumbsup2

Ok so we have one day to run into each other this time! Have a great time at AKL!

Hey Nicki, we'll be down there during the same time frame. We will be there June 5-12th staying at SSR. We called today to make our dinner reservations. We will be trying Spoodles, California Grill, Coral Reef and Rose & Crown Pub. We haven't eaten at any of these before. We will also be dining at Raglan Road, where we have to go when we are down there. It is our favorite! (Any suggestions on these places?)

Your reports are totally awesome. So sad that you had to go home today, but June is just around the corner! :cheer2:

Thank you! We were both so bummed to leave too....we milked it until almost 4pm! We both loved Spoodles and I liked Coral Reef alot! We are going to try Cali Grill, China and maybe Raglan Road in June...might see you there!

LOL We'll be like ships passing in the night Nicki! I go home on the 3rd. Looking forward to the updates. :thumbsup2

Aw man it would have been great to meet you! Hope you have a great trip and leave some booze for me!

now I need to try the Pithiviers, I LOVE almonds:lovestruc is it like a biscotti? can't wait to try this.

Thanks MickeyNicki for the reviews & pics!!!:goodvibes

If this is like a biscotti DH is going to kill me because he wanted it and I said, Ick Almonds?? I dont want to share that! Glad you liked the review, more pics are coming!

Welcome home, girlfriend. Hope you and Todd had an uneventful drive. So glad to hear about the bounceback...more reviews before we go in September.

Thanks babe! I hate being back home!

glad you are home safe and sound and that you have another trip booked! Can't wait to read more!

Thank you! More coming right up!

So glad they help you out! I try to be as detailed as possible :rotfl:

On to our last day.....wahhhhhhhhh

We had a very early spa reservation at the Grand Floridian, 8am! We decided to grab some coffee, or in my case tea, and walk instead of the monorail. It was fantastic! The Princess race or something was going on and they had a bunch of characters waving to the runners...we saw Peter Pan and Wendy at one spot, Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter in another and lastly was Belle and the Beast....it was so cool!

The GF spa is aaaaamazing! This was DH's first ever spa experience and after yesterday it will not be his last. We were shown to our separate dressing rooms, the ladies room had lockers, showers, the sauna, steam room and the hot tub, shampoo and the other necessities too. Nice robes, flip flops and towels too. A big bowl of oranges, water with a hint of green tea and many hot teas (organic and green) to choose from.

I met my massage therapist Amy and we met up with DH and his guy Dale, we smelled 6 different aromotherapy oils and DH picked the most popular one, a heavy antioxident one and I had the lavender vanilla.

We were led into a huge room, very dim with wonderful music and lighting. The tables were right next to each other but not too close. The techs were to die for....for me she hit all the right spots in my neck and shoulders and for DH the same plus his head. It was heaven and the time flew by!

When we were finished I said, meet back here at 10am and we will go to Chef Mickeys....take all the time you need cuz I plan on doing that too!

Back in the ladies lounge I relaxed in the sauna, the steam room, the spa, I drank soooo much water and ate and orange. Then I showered using the best Grapefruit scented shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion etc....it was the best. The shower is huge and the water comes from this humongous head up top. Little did I know DH was in the mens lounge doing the same thing!

We both walked out at the same time, we were so jelly like and relaxed and staving! I wanted to buy the shampoo and stuff but it is $100 for the set so I said forget it! We used our AP for a 10% discount too.

Cannot wait to go back here! I think in October we are going to spend our Saturday before we leave at the Saratoga Springs Spa or the Dolphin Spa for a full day treatment with wraps and facials and stuff! We enjoyed it so much that we want to do it again but for a longer time!

If you guys ever get the chance check out the GF spa, it is wonderful!

The spa sounds heavenly!!! I'm glad that you and your DH had such a wonderful time!

I am torn between the Spa at GF and the Spa at SS. I'm leaning towards SS because I want a hot stone message :cloud9:

After our Spa experience we were on the monorail to Chef Mickeys. We arrived a little after 10 am and were seated right away. There was a line to check in but it moved very fast. It was not noisy at all.

Jan25001-5.jpg

We were seated to the back left of the room, right up against the windows in a little corner. It was nice and quiet and perfect for us, cuz we were still vegging out from our massages.

Jan25003-5.jpg

The buffet is the same from both sides and we went to the first side and there was a bit of a line. Our server was very nice, we had coffee, it wasnt that bad this time, and orange juice that was nice and cold. She was very attentive and brought out more juice and left a pot of coffee for us. She also cleared the tables promptly which was good seeing how we were in a small table and didnt have much room.

DH started with oatmeal with brown sugar and raisins, it looked watery in the pan but once he stirred it, it thickened right up. You can see in the other plate and everything bagel with cream cheese (it was nice and chewy) and a croissant with butter for me (it was wonderful!)

Jan25007-5.jpg

I started with fruit, grapes, cantelope, honeydew and watermelon. The fruit was AWEOME! So sweet and fresh and not mushy at all...just perfect! We ate alot of fruit here.

Jan25006-5.jpg

This is my plate. At the top is the bacon cheese hash browns...these were terrible...tasted like liquid smoke and the two bites I ate stayed with me all day if you catch my drift, DH didnt like it at all...he said it was a terrible flavor to eat first thing in the morning. Under that is the breakfast pizza, a Boboli style shell with scrambled eggs, mozzarella cheese and bacon...this was fantastic! Both DH and I loved this and ate 2 slices each! Under that is the tater tots, we both loved these. Next is a very different type of corn beef hash, your standard hash but baked into a corn bread, I loved it, nice and sweet and salty at the same time, DH didnt like it. Below that are the scrambled eggs, very good. Next is the breakfast lasagne that had a Mexican flavor to it, it was just ok and 2 bites was enough. Next to that is the biscuits and gravy, the CM just put out a fresh batch so the biscuits were nice and fluffy and the creamy gravy was perfect! To the left are the sausage links, nice and tender and good but I like mine a bit more well done, which I got later.

Jan25005-5.jpg

Here is DH's plate. He has a cinnamon roll (what else huh?) and french toast which he loves both, super crispy bacon, the yuck bacon cheese hash browns, eggs, and biscuits and gravy. The boy ate many other plates but I didnt take pics because I took pics of the entire buffet!

Jan25008-4.jpg

We also had the Krispy Kreme donuts, they were good going down but man did they repeat on me! The rice krispie treats were stale and had zero flavor. The chocolate croissant was awesome and the apple turnover had no filling in it.

We really enjoyed Chef Mickeys, we liked the food alot, the atmosphere was fun and it wasnt noisy at all....in fact there were more empty tables than seated ones!

After breakfast DH and I wandered around the CR a bit and he decided this was where he wanted to stay in June but only if we can get the main tower. The quiet pool is right on the water, he wants to eat at the Contempo Cafe for breakfast, CM again on our departure day and I want to try the Cali Grill. When I called the bounceback line there was a ton of different resorts and room types for the week of May 31st. We booked a MK view in the CR tower and I requested the highest floor with a king bed...hope we get it and maybe we will like the CR since we are in the main building...the gardens were just eh.

I did take a ton of pictures of the buffet so I will post those next!

Jan25014-6.jpg

We said ALOHA to the Poly and headed to DTD, neither one of us really wanted to leave but we felt much better knowing we would be back in June! These little 4 day weekends really refresh ya!

DTD was mobbed, the parking lots were full but we lucked out and grabbed a spot by T-Rex. I cannot believe the things they have on sale, all toys 35% off, all plush 20% off, clothing was on sale, just about everything was on sale! Not just at DTD but at the resorts and the parks too...we also noticed the TS places were not full, they were taking walk ins but the CS places were mobbed! Not just in DTD but the parks and resorts too.

After we shopped and picked up some things for the nieces we wandered to the new create your own tee shirt place. We are so going to do that the next time we go, its great! The Xmas tree place was empty, I guess no one is thinking of Xmas yet ha ha.

Since we have not been to WPE since June we knew we wanted to eat there. DH decided on the pizza, he wanted mushroom and sausage and the CM was totally confused that we wanted to leave off the pepperoni and sub sausage, we must have said it three times and he said ok I got it....so this is what Todd got:

Jan25035-3.jpg

Can you see the pepperoni? :rotfl: Its all good because DH loves pepperoni and I do not and he was just trying to do something nice for his beloved. The pizza was goooooood but a bit too soft in towards the center...next time we will tell them to cook it more well done. He is a cherry coke nut so he had to have one...blech can you say cough medicine??

I had no clue what I wanted so DH ordered for me...I said just make it something yummy. He ordered a roast beef and cheddar foccaccia and it was insanely wonderful. The greens and the blood red tomato with a light dressing made this sandwich to die for. The parm chips are gross....they are not cooked very well and hard and chewy. I had the tropical ice tea, wish every place had this.

Jan25033-3.jpg

We just love this place and sitting outside wishing we were not going home was a nice place to be!

Last stop on the food cruise was Goofy's Candy Shop...this place was packed and very hard to move around in. I did score a few gingerbread cookies and they were much better this time, nice and soft and wonderfully spicy.

Look at the size of this rice krispie Mickey Head!

Jan25036-3.jpg

Ah if only this was real!

Jan25041-3.jpg

DH picked out some loose candy and we had pretzels made...I am so mad that they no longer have Reese's Peanut Butter Cups as a topping, just Butterfinger and Reese's Peece's....gross. But I got my pretzels, 2 with milk chocolate and Butterfinger and caramel drizzle and I was kind enough to let DH have one with milk chocolate and pecans with caramel drizzle. They were great on the car ride home!

Hi Nicki, glad you got to experience the spa together. I'm a total spa junkie! GF Spa is nice (I'm going there again this June) but wait until you try SSR Spa, so much better! It's just larger and for some reason, offers different treatments than the GF Spa (but run by the same company). I also liked that the lounge at the SSR was shared, so DH and I could sit and hang out together. I love all the shower products too! Have you hit Basin White at the GF? I'm in love with the Lemon Sugar scent stuff. It's not nearly as expensive as the products at the spa.

We had requested the same thing as you did for the CR tower (last week of May too! It's our anniversary we used to always travel at that time). They gave us the third floor from the top, last room down the hallway, MK side. From the bed, you could look in the mirror and see the castle over your shoulder. It was amazing! I also requested a king bed, but they said they only have 22 rooms with king beds and thought our view was more important to us. So don't push the king issue if you want a good view. They gave me a whole speech that it's a "family resort" so king beds are very limited.

Hey, did you happen to spot the mickey waffle iron this trip?:confused3 Still searching for one :rotfl:
Mare

I'm so happy you found the gingerbread men! I knew you would!! DS5 is going to be thrilled!!! Thanks!

And now we are home and it stinks! Oh well I better get on the phone and make ressies!

I think we are going to do Contempo breakfasts and on our departure day go back to Chef Mickeys or maybe Crystal Palace or maybe try the Wave? Lunches will be CS and for dinner I think the China place in Epcot since we have never been, Cali Grill if I can get in if not the Wave again. Maybe WPE for our arrival night and I need one more dinner...any suggestions?

Thanks for reading and chatting you guys, it was a blast and I am so bummed its over! Keep and eye out for the next installment of the Nicki and Todd dining show, to air sometime the end of May!
