Will they allow a fan in the room?

I know that sounds like an odd ?, but we are very spoiled to that "noise" and we would all sleep more sound. This will be our 3rd trip and we've managed without it the previous trips by running the bathroom fan but it's not the same. I wasn't sure if there was a rule about this kind of thing. Also, do you think it would bother other guests? While we've never had problems with noise from other rooms, we would not want to disturb someone else. This is our 1st trip to the Polynesian and are not sure if thin walls are a problem there. Oh and in case you're wondering we will not be lugging one all the way from home, my DSIL lives in Clearwater and will be visiting us at the beginning and end of our trip and wouldn't mind lending us one of hers.

We always bring a "sound conditioner" with us. It makes the noise of a fan but without the wind to go along with it. We use these at home as well. I do know of others who bring fans though. I would recommend this as many of the new air conditioners at Disney don't stay on all the time, they go on and off based on a sensor. Happy sleeping at the happiest place on earth!

I've never heard of a sound conditioner-is this a real device? I'm asking because while I'm addicted to the sound of the fan I've often been kind of paranoid of the thing bursting into flames in the middle of the night-I know that sounds crazy ! I also know that some people like the cd's of the ocean or water, but it's not the same for us.

At any rate thanks for answering so quickly and that eases my mind!!

I've tried the ones with the ocean, etc. but I wasn't able to sleep as soundly - guess I was used to the "fan" noise! Anyway, the one I have is only a fan noise with an on/off button. We got them through the JC Penney catalog if you are interested. They are probably 8" in diameter and 4-5" high so it's smaller than a compact fan and makes for easier packing.

I believe all the rooms at the Poly do have ceiling fans.

SnowWhite33 - I'm with you. First stop after checking in is usually a walmart or walgreens to purchase a cheap noisy fan! We leave it at the end of the trip.

Thank-you thank-you thank-you for this post. I thought I was the only person out there that was addicted to this. On our trip to WDW last week, I think I would have slept somewhat better had I known that I could bring a fan of some sort with me!

We take a small compact fan with us on every trip we take. I also thought I was one of the only people who is "addicted" to the sound of a fan to sleep. It's actually called "white noise" by the experts. I know better than to not take it, lol. Glad to know there are lots of people out there just like me.

This thread just brought back memories I worked Graveyard at the Beach Club in 1996... at about 2am I got a phone call from a guest room and the women wanted to know if I could get her an "oscelating" fan, being Disney I naturally said, I am not sure but let me find out and I will call you back... At which time I hung up, called the manager on duty and asked what the heck that meant That was the first time I had heard the word "oscelating". Needless to say we found her a fan, it did "oscelate" and she was able to sleep soundly for the rest of her vacation I had to share...the thread was just the perfet outlet for the story
