Will these times work for arrival and ADR?

This is my first time going to Disney as an adult with my own family!

Can you please let me know if this is cutting it too close? We arrive at the Orlando airport at 6:17pm on Monday, Sept 2. We have an ADR for Chef Mickey's at 9:05pm. We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside.

Can we check into our hotel and make it on time? What if we just went right to the Contemporary? Do I need to cancel?

Thanks from this newbie

I think you are definitely cutting it close, and if for whatever reasons your travel plans get delayed, you will be charged $10pp for a no show fee.

Your 3 hour time cushion is just on the edge of being acceptable. You should be able to make it IF everything goes according to plan--your planes are on time, you can get a bus/taxi right from POR to the Contemporary. Any little thing going wrong would mean the difference between making your ADR and not making it.

If you are on the dining plan you will have to stop and check in at your resort before being able to use any of your dining credits. And if you are using DME to haul your bags you have to ride the DME bus to your resort. If your family can do carry-ons only, skip DME and get a taxi or book a towncar ahead of time to make getting to POR faster.

Are you renting a car or using WDW transportation?

If you're renting a car, I think you'll be ok. We always rent a car and typically arrive at the resort about 1 to 1.5 hours after we land. If you have kids with carseats to install in a rental, that will take some extra time.

If you're using ME to get to your resort and then the WDW bus system to get to CM, you may be cutting it too close. You just don't know how long it will take to get to your resort since ME stops at other resorts as well. Also, there's no bus that goes from resort to resort, so you'd have to get a MK bus from your resort and then walk (short 5 min walk) from MK bus stop to the Contemporary.

If you have any flight delays, you will probably not make it and you'll have to pay the no show fee of $10 pp. Personally, at that time of night, I'd make an ADR for Boatwrights and just get settled in at the resort and make a CM ADR for another day.

I agree with others, if you are not relying on Disney transportation from the airport to your resort and again, after checkin, to the Contemporary, you might be cutting it a little close. Honestly, even checkin can be a long experience if there is unexpected issue.

If you are renting, I think you can. Barring a problem at check in and I don't even think that will cause a problem. If it is taking too long and you are going to miss your ADR, you can speak to them at the desk and they will probably be able to delay it a few minutes and even cancel without penalty since it is not your fault you will miss the Adr time.

Just my two cents!

Yes cutting it close but not impossible - maybe after you get to POR you can get a cab to Contemporary to save time - counting on another bus at that point will only add to the stress Good Luck!!

In a perfect world, you MIGHT make it. But that's a perfect world.

Assume 10 minutes to get off the plane 6:20

Assume about 15 minutes to get to DME. 6:35

Assume 15 minutes to wait for a DME bus. 6:50

Assume 50 minutes to 1 hour to ride to POR 7:50

Assume 20 minutes to check in 8:10

Assume 15 minute wait for a bus 8:25

Assume 15 minute bus ride to MK 8:40

Assume 10 minute walk to CR 8:50

If ALL of these go exactly as timed, you CAN make it.

However, if it takes longer to get off the plane, if it takes longer for a bus to come, if it takes longer for a bus ride due to an accident... you'll miss your reservation.

Do yourself a favor and reschedule for another night.

Why would it not be their fault if they miss their ADR?:confused3

When you travel you should always leave enough time for the bad things that can happen, if you are trying to get somewhere important. Not leaving enough time between touchdown and ADR would be the OP's fault.

I wouldn't bank on them being able to squeeze anyone in late at Chef Mickey's. That is one hard ADR to get! It is typically booked solid, so no room for walk ups or people that miss their ADR time. Not trying to be negative, but it is our own responsibility to leave enough time to make our ADRs.

I agree with the above posts. On property Disney tells you it can take over an hour to get from place to place. I get wanting a special dinner right away, but not at the expense of stressing everyone out from the moment you get off your flight. It could be just as fun for the family to enjoy an evening swim, eat on site or take the boat to Downtown Disney and eat there and start fresh in the morning :)

Thank you for your replies. I agree, it was cutting it too close. So I cancelled it. And my whole vacation.:lmao: Well, not really. I ended up moving the whole trip by a day with an earlier arrival because I realized I wouldn't be able to do ANYTHING that day.

I haven't been able to get a new ADR for Chef Mickey, but at least we can have some fun the day we get there.
