Will the updated "actively eating" mask policy at WDW carry over to DCL?

If you are at the bottom of the queue for vaccination, I doubt you will have to wait the full 4 months. Production is ramping up globally. The people who are getting the first shots right now may have to wait 4 months, but if you are getting your first shot in June, you may only have to wait the normal 3-4 weeks. The time until June is pretty much the same time as when the vaccine was first administered in December/January (at least in the U.S.). Production has already ramped up considerably since December/January. I expect, it will increase even more drastically in the next couple of months.

I hope you are right. :)

THankfully, consumers have choices and the free market will prevail...

Georgia has a rather lax policy on masks and dining.... and here's the current stats:

If they require masks OR vaccination, we won’t be cruising! No one can be forced to have this vaccine nor should you have to have it in order to travel. It’s not constitutional.

I believe you are partially correct.

You can't be forced to have the vaccine.
However, the right to cruise is not protected by the Constitution.

If you wish to travel internationally, the Constitution will not protect you from other countries mandates, either.

Oh now I’m not disagreeing with you here....I meant more being forced to take it, etc. here in the USA. Agree.

💯

I am not criticizing a mask mandate if they feel it is necessary. It’s just “a bridge too far” in terms of cost-to-value for me.

I had a good time at WDW with the mask mandate and all of the social distancing protocols. I didn’t have a great time, like I usually do.

None of the myriad changes were deal-breakers in and of themselves (though the super-long stand-by lines for everything really did suck), but when you added all of them together, it felt too much like a compromised experience. Yet I was paying full price for everything.

I do not want to walk off a cruise with that same feeling.

I agree. We also recently returned from WDW and while doable it was not ideal. Absolutely no winging meals...everything has to be planned ahead. Our very grandkids did not mind as they don't remember going non mask but it was a pain constantly reminding them not to take them off when they wanted to. I do not want to deal with that on DCL.

No one is forcing you. A cruise line requiring it has zero to do with the constitution.

Private entities are well within their right to mandate it if they wish.

To me, common sense is wearing the mask at the table, until you receive your food and putting it back on between courses and right after you had your last bite.

Just to call out many people and growing daily have either had the vaccine or had covid19.

So it really doesn't make sense for some people at all.

In addition it makes little sense to me. The additional 10-20 mins you might not have your mask on pales in comparison to the roughly 30-50 mins worth of meal time where you would have your masked consistently removed and actually be putting hands to your mouth and ingesting things.

Disney can do what they want but for the most part when we went in January the previous rules was more than enough.

By the time cruising starts up I think policy will change.

In the end from the second you sit down at DCL dinner/lunch you are having drinks and food so it pretty much would not change anything.

Said it for months don't see DCL requiring a vaccine but can see masks and testing to be a thing.

I do think masks should be expected through spring 2022 on DCL in indoor entertainment venues. Not saying it should be policy by the time they sail just what I think will be a thing.

I know various people who will not give their business to places that end up requiring a vaccine even though the individuals will get the vaccines themselves.

This thread is getting off track from what DCL may or may not do to what people feel is right/plan to do in general, etc. Please keep it on topic - if you wish to debate whether this or that rule may be ethical or enforceable please visit the community forum. Thanks!

It's about reducing time of exposure (impacting the "viral charge" one is exposed to). The moment you wear your mask could be the moment someone "positive" near you removes theirs. It was actually recommended by our health department when they reopened restaurants for a few weeks last summer.

Putting on and removing a mask properly (while avoiding to touch the mask) is the first thing I have learned when I starting wearing masks last spring (a few months before health department of Quebec started to recommend it).

I have hand sanitizer with me at all times and clean my hands as well in between.

It might feel like a lot of efforts to some who are not used to it but for us, it's routine. We have been doing it for a year now.

EDIT: Just wanted to add that people who had the vaccine and who had COVID have to understand that some people are not protected yet, and for a little while, they have to do it for the well being of others.
