Will the time ever come that I've had "enough" Disney? I didn't think so! :)

 Hi everybody!!! Thanks for stopping by my trip report! I hope that you will stay with me on "re-visit" of our vacation! :goodvibes We had a FABULOUS time and I can't wait to tell you all about it! So, come on! :surfweb:

To start, I'll give a little introduction to our "cast": (This is copied from my PTR to which there is a link in my signature - feel free to check it out to get to know us better)

Me: Melonie (29) – loves ALL things Disney! Always has a trip in the works (whether DH is aware or not) and never stops thinking of plans for the next trip. Could not function without Excel spreadsheets and does not like anything that I cannot plan and obsess over in advance and be in complete control over! Was a spoiled only child (okay, okay, so still am . .. ) and always got my way – much to DH’s dismay since (as I like to put it) “I was that way when he met me, so he knew what he was getting into and has accepted the responsibility to keep me in the lifestyle I am accustomed to!” :snooty: LOL! Okay, so no flames – I am definitely a spoiled brat, but have coated it with a sweet and loving personality. Thankfully, DH does love me the way I am, and I want to say here that I love him with every fiber of my being! He is the greatest man I have ever known and it’s so exciting to think that after the blessing of 10 years of marriage, we still have so much to look forward to in life. Being married to him is what I cherish most in life (GASP! Yes, more than Disney World) and we enjoy the time that we spend together. In other news (read those words in the voice of Tom Brokaw), I work full-time outside of the home as a bookkeeper, but my favorite job is being a mother! I hope to one day have the opportunity to only work during the hours that my children are in school so I can have more time to enjoy them in the innocence of their childhood. (It’s in my 5-year plan! And, yes, that plan is in the form of an Excel spreadsheet!) :thumbsup2 Okay, so enough about me – I will talk about myself enough in the rest of this report! :rolleyes1

DH: Brandon (28) – As stated above, he has his hands full putting up with me, but he does a fabulous job of it and spoils me and our 2 children to a point that is probably not healthy. :goodvibes He is a youth pastor and is an amazing man of God! He reaches teenagers in a way unlike I’ve ever seen before and they feel totally comfortable coming to him with their problems. He substitute teaches at the junior high and high school in our community and takes advantage of that opportunity to connect with his students and be completely involved in their lives. I guess you could say we have 2 biological children and 40-50 foster children that can be expected to pop by at any moment. (Our house is NEVER quiet!) As far as Disney goes, he really enjoys it, but is not as into it as I am. Actually, I think the only reason he goes along with me insisting that we go there every year is because he knows how much joy it brings me and the kids. Okay, so I guess it’s mostly me that gets so much joy out of it, but the kids like it too dangit!!! (Rant over) He hates my OCD planning of every detail and usually rolls his eyes at the sight of the “Disney Binder” (where I put the printed spreadsheets) but he amuses me for the most part and even pretends to look at it sometimes. Gotta love him! I think the thing he is looking forward to the most this trip is the fact that we are on the Deluxe Dining Plan and get to try some awesome restaurants that are paid for before we even get there. I hope to get him to comment during the trip report, because he has an amazing sense of sarcastic humor and is a natural riot!

DD: Brooke (7 ½ ) – I think this child may have the potential to follow in her mother’s spreadsheeting footsteps. :scared1: I constantly see her making lists – people she wants to invite to her next birthday party, things she “needs” from Wal-Mart, party supplies, etc . . . An OCDP (obsessive compulsive Disney planner) in the making I do believe. She is in the 2nd grade and makes straight A’s – cries over any missed answers on homework or a test. She is everything I’d ever wanted in a daughter – beautiful, smart, sassy, confident, and compassionate. She probably spends too much time around adults, as I often hear her saying things well beyond her years. For example, the other night she and two of her friends were cleaning up the mess of toys they had made in their Sunday school classroom when I overheard her say to the others, “We should pray before we dismiss.” Too funny! When it comes to Disney, she is a roller coaster lover!!!! Her favorite rides are Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Expedition Everest, Rock ‘n Roller Coaster, and Space Mountain. She is a princess fanatic and is looking forward to eating in the castle again and also to having dinner with Cinderella, the step-sisters and Lady Tremaine. She will sit at the computer with me for hours watching youtube videos of the places we are going during our trip. See what I mean – OCDP all the way baby!!!

DS: Bo (5 ½ ) – This boy has the most personality of any one person I’ve ever met! In just a few words – all goodness, badness, sweetness, mischief, kindness, sarcasm, lovingness and comedian rolled into one little boy! He keeps me on my toes and has the entire family laughing all the time! He just started kindergarten and is self-proclaimed as the “smartest kindergartener”. I mean, the boy reads on a 3rd grade reading level, so I guess he is justified in thinking that, but we are trying to work on his inflated ego issues! ;) Bo will do ANYTHING for a laugh and we are very worried about the phone calls from the school that we will receive this year. I should also mention that as much as he is comedic, he is very very tender-hearted. Any time someone is sick or hurting (physically or emotionally) he gets very upset and worries over the situation until he knows that it’s all over and everything’s okay. I just love this kid! In terms of his Disney personality he is up for anything! The only ride that he was unable to do last trip was Rock ‘n Roller Coaster and we are measuring him weekly to check his progress for this year. We have about an inch to go so we’re thinking of buying some heelies (without the wheels in) for our MGM day. :rotfl2: He is going to be absolutely heartbroken if he can’t ride it. He is pretty much a go with the flow kind of child and will probably spend his trip going along with whatever everyone else wants to ride. Oh, and he is DEVISTATED that he has not gotten a Mickey Mouse stuffed animal on any of our past trips so he will be purchasing one as soon as we arrive to our resort!

There are actually 5 other members of our trip’s cast, but they have their own PTR, so at this time I will direct you over there for their introductions. So go over and meet my DBFF, Katie, and her family. We will all be traveling down together, staying at the same resort, and have most of the same ADRs.

We're Going To Disney, But It's Our Little Secret

And here are some more pictures of our family:

Wow!!! Just realized that DD has her lips closed in every smile in every picture! I promise she is a happy child - but since losing her 2 front teeth, she is a little self-concious about it. :)

Okie-Dokie, so now that introductions have been made, stay tuned for the next post . . .

I am anxious to read about your trip! We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go again!

Okay so here we go!!!!!

Thursday, September 11, 2008, 4:00a.m.! That's right - A.M.!!!!!!!! ;) Here is DH, DS, DD and myself being dropped off at the airport by my mom

WDW005.jpg

Doesn't everybody look so excited!!! The night before we left, DH said to me "I can't believe we're flying on a vacation tomorrow!" :goodvibes Poor thing - he can't handle being a passenger in a vehicle (Especially if I'm behind the wheel! LOL) so he always gets stuck driving the entire 11 hours when we go to Disney. Needless to say, he was very excited to be flying there for the first time!

Here are all the kids (my 2 plus DBFF's 3) watching the terminal for our plane:

WDW008.jpg

They couldn't wait!

Here's my crew walking onto the plane:

And here is DH, DBFF's DH and DS waiting for take-off:

. . . and me and my crazy kiddos:

And my wonderful DBFF (I really do hope you are reading along with her TR too b/c it rocks!)

WDW019.jpg

And DBFF's DDs:

WDW026.jpg

Here is how the kiddos and I occupied our flight time:

WDW028.jpg

WDW029.jpg

WDW030.jpg

The flight was a little more "turbulent" than I would have liked, but we were having to skirt the coastline instead of flying over the gulf because of Hurricane Ike stirring things up out there. I guess it could have been worse, so I won't complain. ;)

Here are the kiddos entertaining each other while we waited for our luggage to come around on the belt:

WDW031.jpg

And the DH's waiting:

WDW032.jpg

Our FLTours van driver was waiting for us at baggage claim, so as soon as we had all of our luggage together, we loaded up and headed off for Port Orleans!!! All of the kids were running on adrenaline and not much else - it finally got the best of Brooke:

WDW033.jpg

Here is DH and I being excited that our much-anticipated vacation is finally here:

WDW034.jpg

Okay, so I'm going to stop here and upload some more pics to photobucket! I'll be back soon with another update! :goodvibes

I am anxious to read about your trip! We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go again!

Hey!!!! Glad yall had a good time! Sorry we didn't get to catch up with the two of you - our trip was non-stop running! I'm sure you know how that is. :goodvibes How did it go with your family? Did everyone have fun?

I'm here---let the fun begin!!!

Yay!!!! I can't wait to tell you all about it!

Yay! :yay: You started!

:wave2: I'm here! I'm here! :wave2:

Love the airport pictures! You do NOT look like it is 4:00 in the AM! For pete's sake - I would look like death warmed over! And I love the Tink earrings - sweet! The pictures on the plane are great - love Katie's girls poking their heads between the seats - too cute!

Can't wait to hear more! popcorn::

Yay you're here!!!! Thanks for all the compliments - we were so excited to be on our way! :goodvibes But I'm going to let you in one my "vacation look" secret: I had my eyelashes permed and died before the trip! I know - sounds so totally vain, right? But seriously, all I did every morning was put some powder on my face and some tinted gloss on my lips and I was ready! It was so wonderful to not have to worry about racoon eyes from the sweat and water rides, yet be "picture ready" in an instant! It was awesome - just wish I could convince DH that I need to have it done every 4 weeks! LOL!!! :rotfl2:

OMG I just realized that I left out the most important detail of our airport experience!!! After we checked our luggage with Southwest, we headed for the security checkpoint. I have to tell you that I was MAJORLY NERVOUS about this!!!! Not that we have anything to hide or are trying to smuggle anything onboard the plane, but I am just a major worrier when it comes to these sorts of things! :confused3 So, we place all of our carry-on items on the belt, send the watches through, mine and DH's shoes, the kids' shoes . . . all is going well . . . DH goes through the metal detector . . . DD goes through . . . DS goes through and BEEP BEEP BEEP . . . the red light above the archway is going off . . . sweat forms on my brow and I'm imagining military police rushing in to carry off my sweet little 5 year old . . . okay, so I have an incredibly overly-active imagination! So, they make Bo go through a 2nd time, and again, buzzers sound, lights whirl and all eyes are on this 5 year old boy that always has a mischevious grin on his face! I immediately feel  . My mind is starting to panick when all of a sudden it hits me like a brick! "Bo, do you have a car in your pocket?!?!?!" Bo replies, "Oh! Yes ma'am!" as he retrieves the shiny green Hot Wheel! The security personnel break out into laughter, have him send his metal prize through the "x-ray" machine and he procedes through the metal detector - this time without event! So . . . once it is all said and done, DH and I are laughing so hard that we can hardly put our shoes back on! It's so typical of DS to carry a car around in his pocket that I never once thought about it causing an "issue" with airport security! :rotfl2: Anyhoo, thought that was too funny not to share! Next post will be along soon!

Cool! :thumbsup2 Except in my case, I would need way more than just my eyelashes to be dyed! :rotfl2: I would love if I could get away with just powder and gloss, but alas I was not blessed with a complexion that can pull that one off! :sad2: I do have long eyelashes that don't need curling, so I guess I should consider myself lucky on that (but I don't...I find it much easier to whine about what I don't have than to be pleased with what I do have! LOL! ;) )

The dye is a great idea for the sweat and water rides! Mascara just burns, burns, burns my eyes - even if it's waterproof - it always runs! Waterproof? HA! :headache:

I bet your pictures turned out great! Can't wait to see more! :goodvibes

Oh my! That is too funny! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: I would have died laughing too! Sounds like something my son would do - except probably with some kind of metal Star Wars figure or something. I'll have to make sure and check his pockets before we leave!

I can promise you that we will do a thorough pocket check from now on!!! :rotfl: Boys!

I'm here too! :hippie: Looking forward to reading all about your vacation!

Never heard of the eyelash perm and dye - very interesting - may have to check out. I'm not very good at the makeup thing so that sounds tempting.

The kids look so excited at the airport - and you guys do too! Too funny about the car in your sons pocket. :rotfl:

Can't wait for more!

Glad you made it!!! :goodvibes Stay tuned . . . I'm typing up the next post now!

We arrived at POR around 9:45/10:00. Check-in was pretty painless and uneventful - that is until I realized that I left my purse in the FLTours van!!!! :scared1: Luckily, I had their number handy, and called them from DBFF's cell phone. Dispatch was able to reach the driver and have him return to the resort shortly thereafter. Boy was I glad for that!!! :sad2: Anyway, crisis #1 solved, we double-checked our ADRs with concierge and were on our way to Epcot by 10:30.

Here are the kiddos being excited to be on their way to Epcot
WDW036.jpg

DBFF and her DH on the bus:
WDW037.jpg

We were all STARVING since we hadn't eaten anything since 3:00 that morning so our first stop once we entered Epcot was Sunshine Seasons in the Land pavillion. DH and DBFF's sandwiches were . . . let's just say VERY unappealing! I had the rotisserie chicken which was VERY good and the mashed potatoes with it were yummy too. DH finished it off for me while I devoured some butterfinger pie! It was heavenly! :cloud9: Once everyone had finished their lunch, we got in line for Soarin'. This was the first time seeing the new interactive game you play while you wait. You wave your arms to pilot your own hot air balloon thingie and collect coins for points. It was lots of fun and the kids really got into it. The line moved pretty quick and as soon as we rounded the corner right before you get divided off into row lines, DS says that he needs to go to the bathroom and that it can't wait until after the ride! {Sigh} So, DS and I get out of line to find a restroom while the rest of the group goes hand-gliding over California. I wasn't too terribly upset about leaving the line - I have been on that ride countless times and knew that we would be back to Epcot 2 more times during our trip. No biggie. Once everyone finished their "flight" we all headed over to our favorite Epcot ride - TEST TRACK!!!!!!!! Here are some pics of our wait in line:

WDW046.jpg

Last year, the girls all rode in one car while the boys rode in another, so this year we switched it up. The boys drove the mommies while the girls drove the daddies. Here is a cute pic of DBFF and I while we wait for the ride to get going:

WDW048.jpg

And my favorite pic of the trip - me and DBFF in the 60mph loop!!!

WDW051.jpg

Our photopass pics from this ride are really great, too! I can't wait to get the CD so I can post them! After our ride on TT, some of the kiddos wanted to ride Mission: Space. The DH's get motion sick on those kinds of rides, so DBFF and I took the 3 oldest kids to ride. Here is DBFF and her DS in line:

WDW053.jpg

And me and my 2:

WDW052.jpg

We chose the less-intense ride and it wasn't bad at all. The kids really liked it. (DS actually thought he was piloting the ship! LOL) After our ride, DH informs me that he has the on-set of a REALLY bad migraine and we needed to head back to the resort ASAP! I had been calling since noon to see if our room was ready and hadn't had any luck yet. It was already 2:00 so we figured that by the time we took the bus back, it would be close to 3:00 and our room should soon be ready - you would think so, right? Well, of course not! I called the little number on the card they gave me again - as we're waiting for the POR bus - and I explain our situation to the CM - DH has a migraine that is getting worse by the minute, we really need to be in a room when we get there, blah blah blah. Well, she does a double-check for me and informs me that the floor we've been assigned to is undergoing preventative maintenance and won't be ready until after 4:30!!! :scared1: To which I reply, "Check-in is at 3:00 so that can't be, right?" To which she replies, "It's from 3:00 - 5:00 so that is actually right!" RIGHT MY FOOT!!!! I repeat again the shpeel about my DH and his current state and that 4:30 is just not going to cut it!!! She tells me that when we get to the resort to see concierge about switching us to a different room. So . . . we arrive to POR, DH finds a seat in the lobby - by this time is left arm is completely numb and he is seeing spots. I know that without a dark, cold place to lie down in the next 10 minutes he will be vomiting and blacking out so I frantically run to the concierge desk to get squared away. The guy that I spoke to at the desk was SO AMAZING!!!! He had us assigned to a new room that was ready then and keys in my hand within 2 minutes! So now, how do I get our luggage in my hands right now so that DH can get the meds that he needs for this migraine?!?!?! I go to the luggage room - which I forgot to mention that the "bell services" guy that took our stuff at check-in insisted that mine and DBFF's families check our luggage together regardless of the fact that we had separate reservations and all! So, I get to the luggage room, tell them that I need just our half of the luggage right away, and I am received with the rudest look of exasperation I've ever seen!!! The bell services guy (The same one that had us put the luggage all together) is giving me a speech on how we should have had it tagged separately. Well, this is where I should tell you that I am a very nice, kind, non-confrontation person normally - that is UNTIL you stand between me and what I need to care for my family. I proceded to hand Mr. Bell Hop his own hind-end on a platter and told him that he was going to send my luggage to my room at that VERY instant, and that I WOULD NOT be going to my room without it and dialing the bell services number from my in-room phone and that I had no problem going to Disney jail that day over physically removing the luggage cart from his clutches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! {Sigh} Okay, so I am very sorry that you had to see that side of me! It doesn't happen often and is always associated with someone messing with my family. :goodvibes So, Mr. Bell Hop works out his issues and sends somone with me to our room with our luggage. (Now, why was that so difficult to have done????) Anyhoo, we get into our room WITH our luggage and I get DH all situated in bed with his migraine meds. To give him the much needed dead silence, the kids and I head off to the resort gift shop to get them their first souvenier of the trip! :cool1: Can you guess what it is????

Why a Mickey and Minnie of course!

WDW054.jpg

They were so excited to have them, too! We took our time walking back to our room - checking out the GORGEOUS views and the amazing pool on our way. I explained to the kids that dad needed us to let him sleep for a while so that he would be ready for our dinner that night, and they agreed that they should take a nap too - yes, they actually agreed to this! I couldn't believe it either! So, not even 5 minutes after returning to our room this is what they looked like:

WDW055.jpg

WDW056.jpg

How cute is that!!! So, my crew slept for a couple of hours while I unpacked and when they woke up DH was feeling much better! His head was still very sore, but he knew that after a 2nd dose of his meds, he would be able to come with us to Hoop-Dee-Doo! (He is such an amazing trooper - especially when it comes to me and the kids) So, we all got dressed and ready to head to the bus stop. DBFF and her family had told us for months how much they enjoyed HDDR so we were really looking forward to it! Stay turned to find out if we liked it! :goodvibes

I'm glad you got the room and luggage straightened out - what a pain! Don't tick off mama bear, right? :scared1:

I love the sleeping kids picture with their mickey/minnie - so cute! I'm sure the nap was welcome after being up so early that morning. Too bad you couldn't get some rest too!

Looking forward to more! :goodvibes

Wow! Don't mess with Mel!! :rotfl2: Way to go - you know how to kick it into high-gear, don't ya? :worship:
