The Electric Light Parade closed March 31st 2001 and Spectro Magic opened up the next day April 1st 2001..... (I got to work Parade Audience Control both nights!) It was both a sad and happy feeling because I love ELP and the little Spectro guys kinda creep me out but I started to grow to like it...
The most recent Disneyland podcast includes a discussion with the French composer and two American arranger/performers of the music for ELP--they just met for the first time!
I LOVE and MISS the Main Street Electrical Parade.!!! My sister and I grew up with that parade. I was so sad to find out it was not around anymore. The last time we saw it at WDW was in 2000 I think it was. I got all emotional when the music started because we had not been to see it in over ten years. "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls... I would be so thrilled if they would ever bring it back!
I don't know if the MSEP floats are still in France, or if they're warehoused in Florida, or if they're waiting in Hong Kong, or if they're in leased warehouse space somewhere else.
In any case, from a guest perspective, the MSEP is no longer at Disneyland Paris.
Is this parade available on video? I seem to remember tapes being sold in the Disney World stores back in the 80s. I would love to have a copy. It is also my favorite, no to mention my now adult children's favorite.

I've purchased one at Disneyland, you might try calling to see if they still sell them. Disney's Electrical Parade is the best! I have to see it on every trip.
