Will the May running events impact me?

I was going to go to DLR in mid-May, but with all of the grad nite events during my stay, I've decided to shoot for May 6 - 9 instead. On the morning of the 9th, we would go to LAX in order to catch a flight to go to Aulani. However, now I'm seeing where there is some running event on Saturday morning starting at 5:30 a.m. How impactful would this be on my ability to get to the airport for a 10 a.m. flight?

Where are you staying? Saturday is the 10k, if it starts on time, figure about 2 1/2 hours of street closures. I don't believe they've confirmed the course yet, but if you're near the finish line, it could be an issue. For peace of mind, I'd probably switch to an airport hotel or one outside the course area the night before.

I'm staying at the Grand Californian. My guess is that it's probably where both the start and finish line are - LOL!!

Yea, probably. You're going to have to look very closely at the route map. There may be a gap when they let cars out, but if you're trying to use something like an airport shuttle or bus, I think they'll have issues getting to you.

I like your suggestion of getting a hotel near the airport for that Friday night. That will put me closer to the airport on Saturday morning, and I'll also save a good chunk of DVC points by doing that.
