Will the fatal Disneyland accident affect DVC sales?

didn't effect our decision, we put our deposit down yesterday and are not backing out.

coaster accidents happen, if you're a coaster enthusiast you take that into consideration. also as coaster enthusiasts we are more aware of these accidents as they are posted on sites we frequent.

a woman was killed at holiday world last spring about 2 wks before dh and went to ride the big ones at cedar point.
we still went, hell we rode 'top thrill dragster' after watching it break down 4 times while we were in line (for 3 hrs).

While we were living in New Smyrna Beach - and I think this was during one of the Grad Nights - a young lady climbed out of one of the "doom buggies" on the Haunted Mansion and fell between the tracks. Her hair got tangled in the ride mechanism and her neck was broken.

How tragic! But accidents will happen, but many of them are due to bad choices on the part of the guests and not necessarily due to maintenance or design issues.

WDW is indeed like a city with thousands of inhabitants, of all ages and all sorts of health conditions. It's only reasonable to expect that deaths occur, most, I'll wager, from natural causes. But in no fashion would that discourage me from DVC ownership.

Hi everyone.

I agree that it is indeed a tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. This is a nightmare come true in that he was on vacation and this tragedy happened.

With that said, I do not feel that it will affect the sales of the DVC. There have been several other fatal accidents at California's Disneyland through the years but the number of accidents compared to the number of guests that Disney has accomodated through the years is miniscule. You have a better chance of getting struck by lightning.

I have an engineer friend who served in the Navy and the Air Force (he's extremely inteligent) and he was invited to tour Disney's California Adventrue before it ever opened to the public. His comment was that Disney has so many security and safety measures in place that (including the rides) if a catastrophe were to ever happen, it is one of the safest place to be.
