Will the Disneyland Hotel balcony doors still open?

After the unfortunate incident with the suicide, I am wondering if they are locking all of the balcony doors or if they are still open. We are requesting a Wonder Tower 14th floor room, which I hear has a full balcony, but also happens to be where the death occurred from what I've read. Has anyone been to the hotel since then and seen any changes? We are going June 8th-13th. Thanks!

When I visited DTD on Friday, we walked over to the DL Hotel, and seen that numerous sliding doors where open, so I assume all of the doors open even on the 14th floor of the Wonder Tower.

imho if you locked the doors folks would find ways to open them. and secondly if you truly want to kill yourself at disneyland there is alot of places to do so. personally i'd rather have a guy dive off a balcony at the hotel where few could see rather than somebody leap off the matterhorn mid day during the summer as hundreds of kids watch. but thats just my take on it.

I doubt they would inhibit one of the best attributes of DLH by closing the balconies permanently. You can't stop someone from jumping off of a high spot, civilization would come to a skreaching halt.

Sadly people will jump once and awhile, this has happened in the past and unfortunately it will most likely happen in the future.

agreed, there's tons and tons of places and ways to commit suicide at DL if you wanted to...and they can't prevent them all.

Nope, no balcony closures that I noticed. We were there just last week.

We actually do NOT stay at the Disneyland Hotel (at least when our 4 yr old is with us) BECAUSE of the sliding balcony doors! My 4 yr old has autism and has absolutely no fear and no sense of danger. Staying there with him would scare me to death! Even though they lock, he has been known to pull furniture over to undo high locks before.
We stay at the PPH which has windows, not doors. :)

I can't imagine the fire marshalls allowing them to lock the balcony doors.

Who kills themself at the Happiest Place on Earth? Is there a link to the news story?

Oh, I don't blame you. That would have been my brother growing up too (he's also autistic).

I don't think they'd ever try to seal them shut just because someone jumped. That can happen anywhere with a balcony.

Thanks for your responses. It will just be my husband and I going, so I am not worried about safety, but it would definitely be a concern if we were bringing children. Wonder Tower 14th floor is supposed to have full balconies instead of just a sliding door with bars outside, so we are hoping to enjoy it.
