With all the posts on various boards about the new tickets I still haven't seen any info on whether or not the Disney Store will be selling these new tickets. With the current park hoppers they just basically have to activate them like a gift card. But with the new tickets and all the different options I'm sure it will be much more complicated to sell them. I wonder if their registers are set up to code all the tickets differently?
A co-worker and I were talking about it today and we both agreed that since the Chidren's Place owns TDS that they may not sell any tickets after Jan 1.
Any thoughts??? Comments???

I don't see why they won't. If they don't those lines at the parks are going to be horrible!!! :earseek:

When I was at the DS today, Iasked if they would sell tickets not that they have been bought. The manager said yes. Then I asked if they would be selling the MYW tickets and she had a very peculiar look on her face-she had no idea what I was talking about!! She said she has heard nothing about the new tickets.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'm not surprised that DS managers had no idea. Telling them in advance would be an ironclad guaranteed way of leaking the pricing plan before the formal announcement.

TDS never received monetary credit for selling the tickets but sold them as a courtesy to our guests. I was told that once TCP took over the stores that we would continue to sell them and DS/TCP would recieve something. No one was ever told the details. Now that WDW is changing to MYW maybe that is their way of cutting out TCP and maybe AAA, Hotwire, Connections, etc(keep discounted tickets under Disney's control). Maybe the only way to purchase will be on-line, phone or at the parks. Hope not!

At least in AAA's case, I doubt it. AAA drives significant traffic to WDW---walk in to any AAA branch, and you'll see Disney brochures all over the place.

I think the Disney Stores will most likely stop selling the tickets. Not only will they not get any revenue, but having to train the employees and having the employees spend a lot of time educating the guests about the new tickets is likely something that TCP will not want to do.

As for AAA and other resellers, my guess is that AAA may still sell tickets but not physical tickets in advance. Likely it will be a will-call thing where you can buy them at AAA but pick them up once you arrive at WDW. This is also more likely to happen if the biometrics rumors on the new tickets are true. Another possibility for AAA and other resellers are the sales of vouchers instead of actual tickets. I don't see why this would be a problem; resellers already have such a dizzying array of tickets now, the new MYW tickets may actually simplify things! Disney could also choose to only allow resellers to sell certain tickets (or vouchers for tickets), such as the MYW Premium tickets, which are basically the equivalent of a Park Hopper Plus (but they expire).

I work at AAA and sell hoppers and we have heard nothing about this... I have a feeling the regular hoppers will still be around after Jan 1st along with the new tickets. Maybe they'll just phase them out eventually.

I'm not so sure they'll keep the old hoppers. Then the ticketing options become waaaaay too confusing. I bet you'll hear something within the next week or two. It may be possible that AAA will still be allowed to sell out their current stock of hoppers while it lasts.

I've tried to find this answer too. LOL about the look on the DS manager's face, I could see it myself. I do know that when I've read about the new tickets, it quotes gate prices and does say advance prices would be less. I'm sure we'll be able to purchase prior to arrival online for sure. It looks to me, after all of my reading, that there are basically 2 types of tickets (not counting APs and other specials). One will be the hopper which includes ALL of the perks, then the other will be the "you design it your way" type of ticket. The ideal way of doing it is on a computer screen, sort of like an ATM ticket machine. This is what they do at the water parks now.....so maybe that's next??? ..... just thinking aloud and my imagination running wild.

Though the CM would not give me a list of names, when I asked on the TA line, I was told any authorized ticket broker (ie ticketmania, AAA, etc.) will be selling the new tickets. I did not ask specifically about TDS.

According to mousesavers.com, the last day the current park hoppers will be available for sale is 1/1/05. You will not be able to buy them once they start selling the MYW tickets.

How can they just stop selling the current park hoppers on 1/1/05? Some retailers will still have the park hoppers in stock.

Maybe that just means that Disney will stop selling them on 1/1/05, but everyone else would sell them until they were gone?!?

The tickets are not valid until activated- I assume Disney will stop activating them on January 1st.... they will most likely have TDS among others send them back to them.

After 1/1/05 you will no longer beable to buy the park passes as we know them. They will all be new MYW tickets. You will still beable to use the old passes after 1/1/05, but just not buy them.

I am sure in Disney's contract with resellers they can demand return of any unsold ticket stock, and replace it with new tickets.
The question is whether they will do this, or allow resellers to sell out any remaining stock. If they allow resellers to sell out remaining stock, I would expect the price to increase as well on this old stock. Due to this, and the surrounding confusion with brand new tickets, my guess is that they will force resellers to stop selling old tickets after 1/1 and send them back.

I purchased my tickets yesterday,12/06/04 from the Disney store. When I brought up to the cashier about the new MYW tickets, she had a blank look on her face too. Knew absolutely nothing about it.
