Whether or not the CDC has gone far enough wasn't the question here. I think they did the right thing as far as cruise ships.

My post was in response to the poster I quoted in my post, not the OP.

Here is WHAT I THINK the bottomline about cruising right now regardless off CDC rules:

There are zero Countries that want 2,000-5,000 people stepping off a ship onto their soil with the way this virus is, especially here in the U.S. 42 States have numbers going up.
Other Countries are getting back on their feet, they want tourism back of course, but they must be mindful of their citizens and starting another nightmare in their Country.

Which was my original point. With numbers going up in 42 states as you put it, it's time for the feds to think/take action outside of just cruising. May not be popular but it may be what is necessary if there truly is a war on Covid. Otherwise we're going to be having these discussions still years from now but it won't be on a cruise forum because there will be no cruising.

I am specifically talking about cruising. Cruising is a vacation.
Airline travel right now for the most part is essential travel.
The passenger on a plane must use their own brain to wear a mask and protect themself the best they can from picking up the virus.
They are stuck in their sit for however many hours to get to their destination.
Cruise travelers are on a ship for days and its much easier for Covid to spread over the days.
It's really apples and oranges at this point, IMO.

Well everybody who voted no, change your vote. Ban renewal just came out.

So, an additional 2 weeks by the CDC, huh? Hopefully that is enough.....I would not bet on it in Vegas though! :)

I hope not. We sail Oct 12 and we’re hanging on just to get the bonus. We won’t sail whether Disney does or not. We’re waiting until the 15 day limit to re-book, but I sure hope they cancel.

I can’t imagine being comfortable sailing and I sure don’t want to sail with any significant restrictions. When we do rebook, it will be as far out as possible.

If CDC does extend the ban, could cruise lines just cruise in and out of non-US ports? I would be willing to fly to St. Lucia or somewhere else for embarkation day. St. Lucia goes to phase 2 opening on 08/01.
Doubt DCL does that but i do see some others entertaining that idea.
