Will TarzansKat meet Captain Jack? ~A Pirate's Life for 3 Pre-Trippie~ We're back!

You think that going "only" every 8 weeks is bad? I got my hair cut last month.....the first time since June....June 2007. I used to go every 12 weeks for a highlight and a cut but then I had DS. You know the rest of the story.

I feel your pain! Honestly, if I didn't work, it would be even less. I like to wear it back off of my face for work, and so I'm typically in a ponytail there. Which means it has to be long enough, but not too long. Because when it gets too long, like it is now, I tend to get a headache. I don't have thick hair, persay, I just have a LOT of hair. That holds water really well, making it impossible to dry in a normal time frame. Hence the semi to mostly dry ponytail for work.

It's fun being a girl, isn't it? ;)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the haircut! I hope it turns out well.

MNSSHP is only 2 weeks from today?!? That's awesome!!!

May I please have some coffee cake? Please?

Me too! :scared:

Sure you can have some coffee cake!

I did decide on the yummy vanilla glaze as well. I just felt like baking, it had been a while. They came out pretty good, too. DS and I both had two pieces! :rolleyes1

I so very much cannot WAIT to see the pics from your adventure!

Mm, I did have coffee cake yesterday morning! My mom made it. It did take some of the sting off of losing my whole holiday to helping paint my parents bedroom. Some.

Anyway, Tuesday in two weeks sounds great! I'm looking forward to hearing what you decide to be for MNSSHP--very piratey of you to choose day-of! pirate:

Heidi, I can do you two years better. I haven't had my hair cut since summer 2005. I have curly hair that doesn't grow. The ends always look the same. I usually forget about ever getting a haircut, and when I do think about it, I decide the $25 can be better used somewhere else.

But I'm thinking I should get it cut next month, when I'll have extra fundage due to extra paycheck. :thumbsup2

Well, for pete's sake, mom needed to do something to soften the blow of having to paint. ;)

You know, I wasn't even intentionally being piratey with that! How funny. :lmao:

WOW!!! That's a long time!!!!

So, I would have to say DS and I are looking pretty schnazzy. Yes, you read that right..s-c-h-n-a-z-z-y!

His hair cut turned out so, so well. I'm couldn't be happier with it. He looks like himself, like someone didn't hack off all his hair in an unnatural manner that would take months to grow out! Phew! This is one happy mama!

And my hair looks fine, too. I got at least an inch off, and I'm quite pleased with the results. And she was able to trim my bangs so that they look good, and I won't have to worry about that before the trip.

All in all, I am a very happy camper with the haircuts. Again, I say PHEW!

I also have been doing some Disney trip related things that I haven't been talking about here, so I thought I'd let you all in.

Today I went around the apartment and did a pre-cursory cleaning. Because I'm one of those people who likes to come back to a nice, clean home. And starting now, I'm one up on it for before we leave. I finally put away my clothes out of the laundry basket, organized both bedrooms, cleaned and tidied up. Ask me how messy it is now that we're all home. :lmao: At least it's a start. I also took all the toiletries I haven't packed and put them in a shoebox with the lid off so they'd be organized and I know exactly where they are.

And I've started amassing my trip clothes in one particular area of the room so they're all together. If I wear them before a bit, fine, but at least they're in one spot, and the ones that need to hang are in the closet.

And in my search for the perfect shoe...which I've pretty much given up on but still retain the faintest glimmer of hope for, I ended up on a website I haven't been on in weeks.

Many moons, if you will. Kohls. Oh yes, my friends. Kohls. But fear not! I was smart. I was savvy. I had coupon codes, and free shipping, and clearance items, oh yes! It was like a beacon! :lmao:

Truthfully, I don't know if I'll keep any of what I ordered, but it's of no harm to order it and return it if need be.

So, I perused, and purchased five items. For a grand total of $25.46. Free shipping, and 15% off. I love coupon codes. Bless google.

Anyhoo, here they are, with their prices because I'm just so proud...

kohls1.jpg

This top is cute. Not sure how it will look on, but I liked the pattern and thought it was fun. We'll see. $6.80

kohls2.jpg

Again, not sure about the pattern, but couldn't resist at least trying it at this price! $3.40 Seriously, at that rate, if it looks halfway decent it could be a new top for work.

kohls3.jpg

I'm really hoping this fits and looks as cute in person. It screams Animal Kingdom to me! :lmao: $3.70

kohls4.jpg

Navy blue hoodie...need I say more? $5.78

kohls5.jpg

Same hoodie, same price, in white. I just thought since these are actual misses sizing, they may fit me better than the juniors one I found earlier. Although the juniors one is cute, I wanted to give these a whirl. And since I'm not sure if I'll prefer white or navy, I ordered both. Why not, eh?

Pirate. pirate:

So that's pretty much it. Getting ready for the trip. And I guess I should report that DH has FINALLY begun his on shoe quest. May the force be with him. After all, he is :yoda: Seriously, the man needs new sneakers for our trip! And that brings me to DS. I just got his feet measured on the way home from our haircuts, so I now know what size sneaks to get him for back to school/vacation. Very exciting, so I'll be checking out shoebuy tonight!

It's been a spending money kind of day. But all within the budget. And that makes a very happy TK. :thumbsup2

:woohoo: For good hair cuts!

I too like to return to a clean house. It makes it so much easier and it just feels better.

.....I'm so punny this morning. Must be the baking. I had some eggs that just hit their expiration, and sour cream that would have shortly, and said to myself, self...what better way to celebrate being so close to vacation than to make some fabulous delish coffee cake. :thumbsup2

[drooling] YUM!

....Waking up whenever. No alarms for the boys, leisurely morning. No park this morning, just chill and relax until our 1120 ADR for Chef Mickey's. Whereupon we'll nosh on a breakfast that will feel like lunch. Happily cavorting with Mickey and Friends all the while keeping in mind the larger goal!

No no no.....the word's "nom"...

:rotfl:

But I have no set plans. Just an ardent hope that since DS has heard the MNSSHP music so much that the fireworks won't scare him this year. Ah well. One step at a time, eh?

I know this will be an awesome day. I can't wait to brave the weird and haunted shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon to arrive at the Magic Kingdom and MNSSHP.:thumbsup2

"No set plans" can be a very good thing indeed. :goodvibes

:woohoo: For good hair cuts!

I agree. Something about coming home to a nice clean house, and sleeping in your own comfy bed just says ahhhh to me. :thumbsup2 Softens the blow of returning how from the World too!

No no no.....the word's "nom"...

:rotfl:

D'oh! How could I have not used nom? :headache:

Cute purchases, TK! Love the short sleeved hoodies!

Do you think you could do my shopping for me? Seriously. Great deals, totally cute clothes...hmmm...personal shopper...that's a nice thought...

Yay for good haircuts!

Yay for coupon codes on Kohls that enable you to stay in budget!

Seriously, TK, I would like some of your shopping juju. I should give shopping online at Kohl's a whirl! I go to the brick and mortar stores but end up spending more than $25 for five items! :worship:

All. Caught. Up.

Wither the women goest, so goest the men.

Isn't this what life is ALWAYS supposed to be like? ;)
Though, I wouldn't mind tweaking it to:
"Wither the Tinkerbellarella goest, so goest the Sparrow."

The bounceback flier is part of August into October, much longer than I expected. And there's some sort of special offer from October 2-8.

I'm sad-ish. I'm not going to be able to book bounceback, I don't think. Current financials may not allow it. We shall see, we shall see.

How badly do I want to book this trip?:rolleyes1

Rhetorical much?

Sixty-eight chapters! Who knew I had it in me, and who could even fathom there was so much to discuss before the trip even took place.

:wave2:

The final countdown.
...
NoEurope.

Stuck.

For the party, I have few set plans. I would like to see the Headless Horseman, the parade, the fireworks.

Um. As the Sparrow float goes by, think of me.
Hanging.
For dear life.
Of the back of that float.
As I scale towards our treasure.
Screaming down at Disney Security,
"PARLAY! PARLAY!"

Cute purchases, TK! Love the short sleeved hoodies!

Thanks!

Do you think you could do my shopping for me? Seriously. Great deals, totally cute clothes...hmmm...personal shopper...that's a nice thought...

Ooo...I would LOVE to be a personal shopper! Spending someone else's money buying cute fashionable things? Oh, the :cloud9:

Yay for good haircuts!

Indeedy! There were much needed.

Yay for coupon codes on Kohls that enable you to stay in budget!

I love shopping online. I can't speak highly enough about it, and the deals I manage to get.

Seriously...DH and I were going around all morning when I wrote that...

"The...FINAL.......COUNTDOWN....da da da da...dada dadadah!!!!"

Um. As the Sparrow float goes by, think of me.
Hanging.
For dear life.
Of the back of that float.
As I scale towards our treasure.
Screaming down at Disney Security,
"PARLAY! PARLAY!"

Laughed out loud. And I feel the need to write that because I really laughed out loud...LOUD...that was so funny after a busy day at work.

Parlay! Parlay!:lmao:

Although today really has nothing to do with sea turtles...

wait, I take that back. It could have to do with sea turtles. I'll explain the albeit tenuous connection in a little bit...

it is the fourth day! And I thought it was a fun quote. And since we're 11 days out from my trip, I'm feeling a little fun is in order.:thumbsup2

So two weeks from today, I'll be partaking in all that...ahem...DHS...has to offer...ahem. (Still MGM to me, dagnabit. I wonder how I'll feel the first time I see DHS merchandising?)

Anyhoo, this is a day where I'd like to spend the majority of it, tempers permitting, in the park. We have our 1230 ressie at The Brown Derby, which I'm very much looking forward to. I hear a Cobb Salad and glass of champagne...or Citron Limeade, haven't made that judgment call yet...calling my name...TK, we're so refreshing...TK, you'll have room for dessert.

What remains to be seen is if we'll be using 2TS credits for this or paying out of pocket. It all hinges on whether or not we eat at Artist Point. Which is booked later in the trip. And that I've thought about sneaking in earlier. Or maybe just going for apps and desserts. But I refuse to committ. Because it's vacation. And we'll do what we want to do because we want it! PIRATE!!!! :lmao:

Anyway, I'm fairly certain we'll keep this reservation. Because nobody makes Cobb Salad like The Hollywood Brown Derby, folks. Nobody. And an air-conditioned respite from the parks with cool as all get out caricatures all over the walls, and memories of all the times I've eaten there, well, let's just say TK's a little fond of the place. Like the trip where it was just me and my mom. I can remember exactly where we sat, and what we were both wearing, and exactly what we talked about. And most of it revolved around what a great guy DH (my then fiance was) and mom approved. :thumbsup2 I remember when The Brown Derby used to have a piano player. We were at one of a handful of tables left in the restaurant at a dead time of year, and the piano player was tickling the ivories, letting us guess what he was playing. He said, okay, whoever gets this next one gets free dessert. So who guesses it correctly? My husband, of course. It was the theme to an older TV show, I don't even remember what now, but that was a fun time. Budget cuts after September 11th, and there was no more piano player in The Brown Derby. I remember a lot of performers that got cut then, but I digress. I remember going with the WHOLE clan last year, and how we had enough adults on the dining plan to try every single dessert on the menu, which we did. I really love The Brown Derby. So as flexible as my pirate self is, I don't think I'm giving this reservation up.

What do I plan to do at DHS? Well, I'd love to ride TSM. But I'm not into the running of the bulls. When we get to the park, I'll send DH on ahead with our tickets and see if he can score us some fastpasses. We'll see how we fare, folks. Perhaps a little :worship: :worship: :worship: would be in order. I'd like to see some shows, definitely Live with Playhouse Disney since it's new. I love meeting different characters in this park as well.

And I'm hoping that in the evening we'll do one of two things. (A mini list for LL for her birthday here! ;) )

1. Get TK a junky apple for dinner

or

2. Get TK a No Way Jose for dinner

Because it's vacation. And I'm not opposed to eating dessert for dinner. Although DH may require something more substantial, I know DS will be right there with me on this one. And what's vacation for if I can't spoil my little nut a little, eh?

I bet you're wondering how the sea turtles come in...has it been bothering you this whole time?

Well, I don't know if you're aware, but at the boat launch from DHS to the various Epcot resorts, like the Beach Club that contains my oh so heavenly No Way Jose, it is possible to see little turtles swimming just beneath the surface while you're waiting for the boat...I mean, ship...to arrive.

Ay...

sea turtles.

Lovin' the sea turtle connection!!! :rotfl:

Go look at MeMom's latest update -- she had a NoWayJose on her July trip, and took pictures!!! :goodvibes
