Will standard ECV's fit in a standard Pop Century Room?

I'm thinking of renting one of the scooters from an offsite company for our overnight stay this week. I called the Pop Century to see if they had a room with a larger door or little bit larger room and they said it should fit in the room if it's standard size.

OK, whenever we've travelled and stayed there, we could barely fit a stroller in there! How is a scooter gonna fit?

Has anyone had a problem or does it work? I guess if we don't think it'll fit, we'll just wait to get the scooter at EPCOT. We shouldn't need it for too much, but if my mom wants to go around the resort with my daughter it would definitely help.

I had no problem getting the ECV into the room. The only thing we had to do is slightly move the table and chairs to get the ECV closer to the wall in the evening while it was getting charged.

You mentioned a stroller. That sounds to me as if you will have more than two people in the room, which can lead to crowding anyway.

All the room doors at all the Disney Resorts are 36 inches wide, which is more than enought room for an ECV or wheelchair. The last time I stayed at a value resort there was lots of space, especially near the windows, to park an ECV. You might want to bring along an 8 to 12 foot extension cord, rated for at least 12 amps, so that you can easily plus in the charging unit and have it near the ECV no matter where youu park it.

Yes it will be my mom, me and my 4 year old daughter. So the double beds really crowds the room, which is why we always have to wedge the stroller in to begin with. I was going to take the smaller stroller, but my neck is hurting so bad right now, I can't bend over even a little, which means I better take the bigger stroller. We're apparently all falling apart over here!

Thanks for the info on the extension cord. I have one of those heavy duty orange ones, I hope that's the right kind. I'll have to ask my husband.

Just agreeing witht the others. All the doors to enter the rooms in the resort are the same width; the handicapped rooms don't have any larger doors than the other rooms at that resort.

The ADA requirement for door width is that it must be at least 32 inches. That's a lot wider than an ECV, even a heavy duty one. (For example, here is a link to a fairly typical heavy duty ECV. According to the specifications page, it is 24 inches wide. If you don't need a heavy duty ECV, the ECV you use will be smaller.

My suggestion is to put one of the chairs from the table over the other side of the tv cabinet - and park the stroller over there too. then move the table closer to the tv cabinet and BACK in the ecv (I even learned to do it alone with no one to hold the door) then it's possible to walk in and out of the room even with the ecv in place. Your mom will bless the day she rented from offsite - the 3 wheel scooters are so much more maneuverable.

There are not a lot of people who have posted feedback for Scooterama, but one poster, Haley Whippet, has posted quite a few times that she used them before she got her own ECV and had good experiences.
