Will Southwest prices come down?

SWA just went up $5 to $79 from Midway for August 3rd. It was $74. Because I waited it cost me $10. Live and learn. Book now and if it goes lower, take the credit. $10 is $10.

Things may change. I can also tell you that weekends are more expensive!
The price also might change if the plane type changes. They start out filling a small MD-80 and if it looks like they sell it out, then upgrade to a 737 or larger and then reduce the ticket prices again. This is what happened to me last year. Prices started at $89/one way at the begining, went up to $104 at one point, and when I purchased a month out I got them $59/ $139.20 total!

Yep...they'll continue to change a few more times between now and August..mine have gone up from the last few days too. We're flying out in June and I try to check prices almost every day. I'll take the credits...After all, if I get enough in credits, I talk myself into more trips...:rotfl:

we're flying RT LAX-MCO july 4th-july 12th.

We got tickets for $139 each way but since we bought them a couple of weeks ago our flight return has gone up to $169 one way.

With southwest, they usually put the lower price out first and as they sell that fare it goes up. You are also about 3 months from your trip whic is usually when they start going up.

Since when does Southwest fly anything but 737s?

Not as of this spring. All resorts are slowly starting to all check in for Southwest now

Here is the posted schedule

Here is the SWA/RAC expansion schedule....

GF, PO - Feb 23
CONT, WL, FW - March 2
Coronado - March 9
Y&B - March 16
BW - March 23
AKL - March 30
OKW - April 6
PO - April 20
CB - May 4

Where did you get this information? I'm coming up empty when searching for any such news, and given that the first 2 listed dates have come and gone with no reports here of Southwest participating in RAC at the 5 resorts listed, there's just no way this information could be accurate, I'm sorry to say. The Transportation Board would be all over that like a duck on a June bug! ;)

Will the resort also be able to check us in 24 hours ahead of time, or will we still have to do that?

I've always been able to get the resort to check me in at the 24 hour mark by asking at the conceirge desk. I think there are places in the parks that will do it for you too.

You might fly out of Kansas City to Orlando. WE Fly SW out of KC in two weeks to Orlando, good price, we did book six months ago..

Posted where???? We have a ton of Disney CMs who post here...I have't seen or heard anything yet. I would love to know where you saw this info posted.

Can you keep getting credits everytime the flight is reduced or is it a 1 time thing? Example: if I buy my tix at $99 each, they get reduced to $79 and then to $59 - if I call when it was reduced to $79 and get the credit and then call again when its reduced to $59 will they give me another credit for the difference? only flew southwest once and got unbelievable prices on my first shot that never got better (actually got much more expensive) but on this trip, the flight dates will be released at different times. So, my plan is to buy the flight down when they are released to get the flight time we want, then hopefully the price will go down so that I have a credit for when my flight home date is released.

I hope that all makes sense:confused3

Yes you can but don't be disappointed if you don't see crazy low prices like this anymore. Airfare just isn't what it was even a year ago.

Yes, you can keep getting credits. Just be aware that every single time you adjust your flights to get the credits that while it may all be one confirmation number holding the credit, each individual person's flight for each adjustment will be a separate credit. Let me explain through an example since I think that was confusing.

You start with lights for 2 people at $99 each. The flight drops to $79 and you get the credit. You now have 2 separate credits for $20 each. The price drops again to $64 and you get the credit. You now have an additional 2 credits for $15 each meaning a total of 4 separate credits. When you go to play for a future flight, you can only use a total of 4 payment methods so if you need to make up the difference via credit card then you can only use 3 of these credits per booking. It's just something to keep in mind. I right now have 16 separate credits from my last trip. They add up to a total of $192 but they're in small increments. When they expire, none of them are big enough to be worth extending which really stinks.

Hey Tnkrbelle565, could you enlighten us?

Hey Tnkrbelle565, could you enlighten us?

It was from an article posted by a DIS travel agent on Facebook...let me see if I can find it. Sorry I forgot to go back and read!

Edited...Ok, it appears she was quoting an article on MagicChatLive that posted on 2/12. I don't belong to that website so I can't read back further to see where the person who wrote the original article got THEIR information

I'll chime in with our experience. We stayed at Pop last Sept. and flew SW and we were able to use the service. They sent us our yellow tags, we put them on our bags, had them delivered to our room. We checked in for our flight at Pop and didn't see our bags again until we arrived at the airport at home. I know they didn't used to do SW (we stayed at ASMo in 06 and flew SW, and it wasn't available,) but it was to us in Sept of 09 at Pop. I also remember seeing SW as a participating airline on some of the paperwork they sent for ME.

ETA: Just did a search and there was info. about SW doing a test phase at Pop and the All-Stars last year, so maybe that's why we were able to use it. I'm not finding any info. on how the test phase went or if they're continuing it or not.

Yes, yes. They've been testing at the values for some time. What people are questioning here is this alleged expansion schedule that seems be a baseless rumor. What the post in question included had nothing to do with the pilot phase at the value resorts.

I just looked at those boards and I think we should wait untill someone of the DIS reliable CMs gives us the List.

"Our members have made a total of 21,988 posts on 1,492 threads." So I'm guessing that this is a relatively new Site. From the looks of things it was started in March 2009.
