Give me a big ole kick in the heiny??? Since my cancer diagnosis, I have really let myself slip. I could cry myself a river (hmmm, then I could swim across it...exercise points!!) but the truth is, I feel really good. I am still non-weightbearing on my right leg because of the biopsy done the end of August, so exercise is out of the question. However, eating healthy would be a good thing, since I am NOT doing that right now. I haven't been to WW since I was diagnosed, too much going on at that time. I had my first round of chemo, second round coming up this Thursday, and much to my surprise, I didn't not get too sick from it. I was pretty slow moving for about 3 or 4 days, but I was feeling "back to normal" by about the Wednesday after the first treatment. I go back to the doctor for my leg on the 22nd, and I am hoping that I can go back to exercising, even if it would just be walking (the tumor on my leg had eaten into the bone, so the bone is weak, may even have to have a metal rod put in, but we won't know more about that until the chemo is done). If I can go back to exercising, and hopefully driving again (no driving for me for the last 6 weeks, it has been TORTURE!!!), I will be going back to WW. But until that time, starting Monday, I need to get back to the healthy eating. I worked so hard to get off the weight, and I gave away all of my "fat clothes" so there is no way I will let myself get back to where I was.

Someone just give me that ole kick to get me recharged again!!

Sorry, but I don't think you need a kick. A hug would be more appropriate. You've been through so much- you just need some sincere words of encouragement. You can do it! You've come so far, you won't let the weight creep back up. I know you can do it.

I'm with KarenNY. No kicks now. I think we'd all be doing about the same thing. {{{{{hug}}}}}}

I know you can't do weight bearing exercises, but how about some handweights?? At least keep the top half moving around and maintain some muscle. :)

God bless!!

I am with the others, no kicks being given out this morning. You are such a strong person to even post, so I know you can get it back together. What you need is a big :grouphug: to get you feeling better. I liked Ohiominnie's idea about hand weights, if that is a possibility. We will be keeping you in our prayers.

Congratulations on getting through some scary, tough stuff. You're very strong mentally. If you can think about the future, you'll be able to start making plans and following through! I think you're great. :bounce:

I agree, you don't sound like you need a kick at all! What you just wrote sounds like a great game plan!!!!!

How about doing some online research into organic foods or something like that? Since you are going through chemo, it might be easier on your body to eat foods that haven't been highly processed or treated chemically. Is it possible for you to buy organic fruits and vegetables and meats? Is there a health food store nearby that someone could take you to, or does your grocery store have a health foods section?

I think that along with the portion control that WW offers, you would be doing yourself a great favor to try to eat whole foods as well. :) That is one of my goals, to reduce the amount of processed foods (like Doritos and other chips and crackers or nacho cheese, etc.) from my diet and eat as many whole foods as I can. I'm going to try to stay away from stuff made with hydrogenated oil. We have a breadmaker, so over the winter I am going to experiment with whole grain recipes and stay away from white/bleached flours (we don't eat much bread anymore anyway).

I talked to an old friend the other day. He told me about someone we used to hang out with who was diagnosed with cancer 2 1/2 years ago (not sure what kind). He saw her at the airport the other day and said she looked like she was 30 years old (she's in her mid 40s). He said she could have passed for her college aged daughter's sister!!! He said she was in the best shape of her life, that she eats really healthy food and works out all the time. He said it is amazing, because last year she was hanging onto life by a thread.

I know that you'll come through this chemo process with flying colors and you'll be given the green light to start using your leg again and that you will build strength again and be able to exercise. You're smart to do what you can for now, which is to try to make healthy eating choices. Good luck!!!! You can't keep a Tigger down!:sunny:

No kicks. Only positive reinforcement allowed. You have come so far. Give yourself some time and I know you will get back into it. Stay strong.

Hugs to you! No kicking allowed here at WISH.

Since you can't do weight bearing activities, can you swim? Even if you had to kind of pull yourself across the pool with just your arms? It might work out, if you had a gym nearbye with a pool. (You might even get some coverage from your Health insurance, if your doctor could prescribe it for you.)

God bless you! You are doing so good!

I'm with everyone else - no kicks just {{{HUGS}}}. You have been through so much and you need to be proud of what you accomplished. It gets harder when life through us some curve balls. I know - I'm an ovarian cancer survivor. Use what you've learned at weight watchers about portions and what is good for you. Keep following that. Get some of your body moving - I like ohiominnie's idea about the hand weights.

It must be hard not to be able to drive and go to meetings. I do weight watchers online and use the WISH for support. Remember that even when you can't get to a meeting we are here for you!

:grouphug: AAWW!! A group {{{hug}}}!!! I love group hugs!!!
Sweetie you are doing fine, you came here for support and that is what counts!!!
I can't say anything that hasn't already been said, so just take care and we'll be here.

Michelle (Beastlover) is right -- I don't have anything to add to what the others have said, they covered it so well! :) I just wanted you to know that we are still here for you, and I am SO proud of you for having such a positive spirit about what you are going through.

   from me! I hope your driving privileges are returned quickly - that would be torture for me as well!!
