back me up in telling IGTD NOT TO WORRY about what she can eat and drink on her trip.

She has done a FABULOUS job at losing her weight and walking everyday, and I am afraid that she is going to miss the time of her life if she obsesses about her "calorie intake " while she is vacationing for a WHOLE 10 DAYS.

What she is not getting is that her 30+ pounds are not going to come back in that short period of time. Sure she may gain 5 pounds, but that can come off when she gets home. It takes a lot longer to lose 30+ lbs than it does to lose 5.

Barbara also has to realize that with the hard work she has put into this last year has paid off and now it is time to get the "prize".

Enjoy this trip and worry about your diet when you get back! Who knows with all the activity that goes on these trips you may not gain and ounce.

Just a little friendly advice Barbara,

Your friend,
Tammie:smooth:

Ok Tammie,

Are you sure your not talking to me too?? I am having a hard time dealing with this too. I keep thinking about last year when I went off my diet for a long weekend and never recovered. This was also before I realized that this was a lifetime journey, and I don't really look at it like a diet. ITs a way of life now. I still have that nagging voice in the back of my head though that is afraid if I go off for my 10 day Disney Vacation next month, that I will not recover.

Thanks for this e-mail because your right. I didn't loose it overnight and my 30' something pounds are not going to go back on in 10 days. That is a great way to look at it as a prize. I should just go, enjoy myself. Eat the foods I love at Disney, ( I don't eat desserts anyway with dinner except at buffets while there). I am sure I will eat healthier anyways, and I don't eat as much as I used to.

Barbara.........lets both do as Tammie says and enjoy ourselves. We have worked long and hard for "our prize". Vacations are only a few short days each year. Have a great time, enjoy yourself and when you get home you will get back into the swing of things.

Have fun,
Melanie

Hear! Hear! I second that sentiment!

Keep the Faith!

I too went on a cruise in April of 2002 and as much as I worry about what goes in my mouth will go straight to my Hips, thighs, and belly. From my own experience.......I ate whatever I wanted (hey I was on vacation) from omelets, pancakes, prime rib and pasta for lunch, a daily soft serve, a "few" frozen drinks (with whip cream" along with other beverages and a fine dinner WITH dessert AND after dinner drinks. Was very active for the whole week ** burned everthing off** really and truly ENJOYED my trip.

And you know what? Came home and got on the scale the next morning :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: AND DID NOT gain an ounce.

Like I said ENJOY you vaca and know that all your hard work does pay off.

I can second pajammatam (Tammie's) response. I did it this summer and am still ok for it. I worried too since I lost a lot the year before and after my DW trip, gained it all back. Not this time. It is different now. Stay committed, get back on when you get home. You will even find that you won't eat quite as much as before anyway. It is a lifestyle change and you are doing it! You can vacation and have some of that "poison," come back, get with it and you will be fine.

Enjoy your vacatoin. You deserve it!

Hey Barb, I'm living proof that you can lose weight, go on a cruise and enjoy food and drink and not gain any weight........just remember to take the stairs......they are quicker than the elevators anyway!!!
