Will restaurants do anything special for 20th anniversary??

Our 20th anniversary is in Aug and we are planning a trip the the AKL. I wanted to know if anyone has requested anything special for their anniversary or things the restarants might do??

Some restaurants will do something like sprinkle Mickey confetti on the table or put it in a heart for you to see when you walk up (that happened for me & DH's 8th anniversary at Crystal Palace), some may give you a cupcake/dessert or do something special and some restaurants may do nothing. The restaurants aren't required to do anything but it never hurts to mention the occasion when you check in. You can also get Anniversary buttons at City Hall.

Congratulations of reaching 20 years! DH and I are working on one!

We went four our honeymoon, and people bent over backwards for us! We were given pins upon check in to wear each day (they also have anniversary pins). Anytime a CM noticed the buttons, they congratulated us. We were also given many CM only pins, and we were even asked to be the first people to open the safari at AK one morning. (It made DH's entire trip!)

Obviously, we weren't there for an anniversary, but the CM's definitely notice the pins. They congratulated all of the couples we saw with anniversary pins. We were also given a free dessert at Kona Cafe that said congratulations on it in chocolate.

Also, when we at dinner at CRT they gave us champagne flutes that were very nice and made of glass for us to keep as a 'remembrance of our special trip'.

I am sure if you go for your 20th you will receive much of the same treatment, just be SURE to get the pins and wear them everyday. I told them when we were making our reservations that it was our honeymoon and they indicated it on each ARD we made.

what restaurant are you planning on going to??

at coral reef we did the diver & personal menu

& at Yachtmans Steakhouse we had a personalized menu & I ordered a cake (at my expense)

i think it depends on where you dine & what you are looking for??

Maybe, maybe not. If you want something special to happen, arrange for it beforehand.

We have been in restaurants for anniveraries and birthdays. Some restaurants give you a free dessert, or a cake. Last week at Jiko, my wife had a Birthday, and I mentioned it to the server but they offerred nothing not even Happy Birthday. Which was all the better for my wife, because she hates the attention.

Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't...it depends on a lot of things.

You can 'up the odds' by mentioning your celebration for every booking and reservation you make (even your hotel). When you check in, mention it again.

Definitely get the free pins at guest services in the parks.

As other posters mentioned, if there is something particular you want, it's better to plan it yourself so you won't be disappointed.

My DH and I were down at WDW for our 45th anniversay last Christmas week 2006, and we went to guest services and got our pins. From that day foward we were welcomed and congradulated every where we went. We had ADR's at Boma for dinner and they saw our pins and when they called us up they gave us an anniversary card and 2 more pins. But that wasn't all, my DH went back to our table while I was getting some dessert and when I went back there was a terra cotta tile all deck out in chocolate with desserts on it that weren't on the menu and there were designs in shapes of hearts all done with chocolate, it was so adorable, we still take about it now.
Then we went to the Liberty Tavern for dinner 1 night and all the Characters were wishing us a Happy Anniversary, I got an autograph from Chip and he signed it Happy 45th Anniversary.
Also we ended up going home not using all our snacks cause everytime we would go to get a snack they would give to us for free, it was hard to use them all.

We are going down again Christmas 2008 and will proably do the same thing it was so much fun and it will be our 47th Anniversary, so don't forget to get your pins and enjoy every minute there, it is magical. have fun.
