I know it has to do with individual child but just wondering everyone's opinion? Thanks, Linda

My 2 yr old thoughts Pirates was "spooky" and Philharmagic was "too loud" She was a little freaked at Philharmagic, but I put in her ear plugs and she took off her 3D glasses and was fine after that.

Pirates, she was fine. But she likes the "spooky" ones...she is a HUGE Mansion fan. :teeth:

When my DD was 3 she did not like Pirates at all. She was face down in my lap almost the whole time. When we went back at age 5 she like it better.

As for the 3D shows, she liked them all but she knew to take off the glasses if anything scared her.

Mickey's Philharmagic was one of the first attractions we did the first day we got down there. My 3 yr old son got freaked out by it, not sure if it was the loudness or the 3D part or both. (he doesn't like fireworks either) He was so upset by it he did not want to go into anything dark the remainder of the week! Including Pooh!

Last year at 5yrs old we went back and although he was better he did'nt like wearing the 3D glasses. This time we had to leave Honey I shrunk the kids. Haven't taken him to Stitches Escape yet either!

We will try again in November this year... :wave2: :wave2:

Philharmagic is very loud and a little startling if the child is not used to 3D movies, but other than that not scary. I did see more startled kids at Phil than I did at Muppets, so that might be a good test attraction.

I took my 4yr old niece on Pirates and Philharmagic and she was not too fond of either!

i think she was starting to get scared as soon as we were walking down the dark corridors of pirates- and then came the drop-- and the loud cannons- DH had her on his lap with his arms wrapped around her the whole time just to make her feel a bit more safe but..... she still sings the song though! :rotfl:

as far as philharmagic- the 3d freaked her out- i had her on my lap for this one- she kept jumping when things "popped" out at her. i tried to tell her to try and catch everything that was coming at her-- that made her enjoy it a bit more.

but one thing i want to add DONT TAKE YOUR 3YR OLD ON STITCH! she was SO freaked out i had to pull off both of our shoulder restraints during the "ride" to grab her and put her on my lap! she DID NOT like that one!

or snow white......

she loved peter pan though! :goodvibes

I might guess that 70% or more of the attractions are questionable to a tot who's afraid of the dark :scared1:

My DD was 3.5 when we went in February. She was a little freaked by Philharmagic, but I think that she still enjoyed it - I think it was the noise level more than anything - that said, you should definitely go because it is a very cool show.

When we first went on Pirates, she seemed a little freaked at first - BUT, it ended up being her FAV ride the whole time we were thing - I think we went on it a total of 3-4 times.

When they are that age, they really get into repetition - it gives them a feeling of mastering something. It was great being able to take her on the "grown up" rides!

My DD6 loved both rides when we took her to MK at age 4. She isn't the biggest fan of loud noises but for some reason none of these bothered her. She still doesn't like the noise from fireworks so I just put earphones on her with Disney music (She loves to see fireworks she just doesn't like to hear them:) She also loved Honey I Shrunk the Audience - BUT I saw alot of kids (both older and younger) freaking out at this show (3D in this show can be a bit scary/intense - SNAKE!).

It really depends on the kid.

Good luck.

My ds was 2 1/2 when we went and he was scared to death of philharmagic...he clug to me and cried the whole time. Can't comment on pirates as it was closed...he did fine on all the other dark rides though.

My DD was 2 1/2 and LOVED POC. We went on it 3 times maybe. I think it helped that my DH and I told her what was coming next so she wasn't surprised, especially the drop.

DS was frightened of POC for YEARS because of the "Dead Men Tell No Tales" voice, he thought that it was threatening him. He also thought that the cannon shots were real, and no amount of explaining that they were just water jets like on SplM would convince him. He always felt fine once we entered the village, but the early sections he would hide from. At age 9, he has finally decided that it is safe to keep his head up for the whole ride. (This is a kid who has been happily riding huge coasters for 5 yrs. now.)

DD (then 2 mos. shy of 3) was scared by both. But I do have to note that she is very sound sensitive and both are rather LOUD attractions. I remember being scared of POC when I was 4 not only because it was loud (I was also sound sensitive) but because of the little drop.
There's no predicting how your child will react though!

I guess it depends upon what scares a child. When I was 3, Snow White scared me senseless, as did Haunted Mansion. For HM, I brought on a little pen light and kept it on throughout the ride, and within a few years, my fear just faded. I was always a fan of POTC, except for the drop. I'd grab onto the handle bar with one hand and my family with the other and squeeze tight. Once I got past that, the ride was an enjoyment for me. As for Philarmagic, I don't see why not. It's a friendly little ride. A bit of brightness and noise...it's up to your discretion.

DD now 5 saw Philharmagic at 3 did NOT like it. So much so that she has refused to go in since. However she tells us she may try it out in July- but we'll see when we get there. She has never done Pirates. She does not like anything remotley scary or evil looking so she will not even go in.

DS was 2 1/2 and he hated Philharmonic. It was the combination of darkness and things coming at him (water, smoke and such) He freaked at Bugs Life as well. But he wasnt scared of any ride that was in the dark - just 3D things.

My DS3 loved Philharmagic. We saw it twice and the second time he cried when it was over. POC was closed but he rode just about everything he could in MK including HM. He wouldn't go on that again but we got him on it once with no issues.

My DS3 did not like pirates. It never occurred to me that he might not like it. He was a trooper though. Another one that he did not like was A Bugs Life.

My experience with a little one is that you never can tell!!! DD(2) was TERRIFIED of POOH!!! Loved Pirates, Snow White and Haunted Mansion, Philharmagic!!!
Thing was--the little kid BEHIND us was scared!!! That's where my DD (with a very strong southern drawl) picked up the phrase (in her BEST Boston accent (new cousin in law is from Boston and it's how he talks but BEFORE she met him) I'm SCARED let's get out o here!!!

So it all depends on what's going on around ya!!!

When I took my daughter for the first time, she was 3. She didnt' like any dark attractions so we didn't even try to take her into Pirates. We did go to Philharmagic and I thought she would love it but she said it was too loud. Oh well maybe this year she'll like it. It depends on your child and what you think they can handle. Good luck
