Will Our California Grill ADR Be Canceled?

I was up at 2:30am making reservations for our upcoming trip Decemeber 16-22. When I made the reservations for places like CG, Jiko and CM (places that I thought required a credit card guarantee,) I was not asked for a credit card number. Will my reservation be canceled because the online system didn't prompt for a credit card guarantee, or are the possibly just using the credit card on file for my resort reservation? I have confirmation numbers and everything, so I know that the reservations were made. Thanks in advance, I just don't want to lose out on the CG reservation because it is during Wishes.

CG does not require a CC at time of booking. We made an ADR for CG for our December trip and they didn't need one, the only ADR that we needed to provide a CC for was our CRT dinner. Unfortunately Disney had to cancel our CG ADR only because the night that we were planning on going, there was a Private Party booked for the whole night :sad1:.

I thought at one point CG would take a CC for an ADR, but perhaps they have changed that policy. I would call the dining line to confirm the ADR and ask them if they confirm your ADR, you are probably all set.

I would definitely double check your CG ressie as we have an upcoming dinner ADR for CG in October and they did require a cc guarantee at time of booking.

CG has required a credit card hold for several years, due to the fact that they had people booking reservations just to go to the restaurant, watch the fireworks, and leave.

I haven't heard that they've suspended the credit card hold, but I did see another post somewhere about not being asked for the credit card when booking CG online.

Jiko and Chef Mickey's do not require a credit card hold.

That'd be me! :)

I had the issue where I was never asked for a credit card at the time of booking for California Grill. I have called Disney Dining on a couple occassions since booking last weekend to speak to a few CMs to make sure I was getting the same response from each. They pulled up my reservation, confirmed that everything was set and told me not to worry about adding a credit card to guarantee the reservation.

One offered the explanation that with the change-over back to 180 days they may be eliminating the credit card guarantee, although I'm hesitant to believe that.

I'd give Disney Dining a call, let them pull up your ressie to confirm that everything appears to be in order and not worry about it again. I don't know about you, but I plan to keep my reservation---so I have no worries about being charged for a cancellation. :thumbsup2

No worries! I just called Disney Dining and the lovely CM there went back and forth with supervisors for about twenty minutes. In the end, they decided that since I booked online through my resort reservation they already had my card on file and so the information was not asked for or needed again. Everything is fine with the reservation and we are good to go :thumbsup2. Thanks everyone!

Excellent! I am glad it worked out for you and now you don't need to stress over it. Of course, maybe just bring that confirmation number with you, just in case.........;)

Like PoohsFan1 we had a CG ADR that was cancelled due to the Private Party. It is on Dec. 1. At least 4 Diser's were affected by being bumped on that date.

I think they did away with the cc guarentee just recently. That would explain why the Oct. ADR required one but those of us booking for Dec. were not asked to provide it. My confirmation did state that there would be a $20 p/p charge for a no-show. We are staying on property so our ADRs were linked to our Resort booking.

It's possible they think that with the vast popularity of DDP, there'll be fewer folks booking reservations just to get access to the fireworks view. I think that at the time they began the credit card hold, this was a huge problem. If the food's prepaid, either the powers that be think the guests will stick around to eat, or it doesn't matter whether they do or not because Disney has their money already.

I tend to think it's more just another glitch in the online system. I made a reservation online back in June for August 31 and I did have a credit card hold.

I just went on to the online ADR system and attempted to book a CG ADR for Dec 17th and I was prompted to enter CC info before it would process. I think it was definitely a glitch in the online system as opposed to a policy change.

I just made an online dinner ADR for 10/2 for CG just a few days ago and I did have to give a credit card.

Same here! I made my ADRs online last Sunday (9/13/09). Due to being on the DxDDP in Dec we have alot of ADRs so I had to make them in two batches, since you can only do ten at a time on line. I was prompted for my credit card # before I could finalize the first bunch, due to having CG in that group of ADRs.
