As previously noted, Obama didn't say anything about not running if the Porkulus package doesn't work. In fact, after a couple weeks of pre-passage hyperbole and "Pass this or else we're possibly doomed..." rhetoric, it appears that Obama is now back-pedalling and trying to manage people's expectations: "White House dampens stimulus expectations"
So I wonder how long the public is going to buy this shtick given that another possible trillion dollar plus bill (Son of TARP), and other financial spending programs from Tim the Enchanter are reportedly around the corner?!?!? The sad thing is that the banking bill will likely be more critical to our country's financial health than the Progressive-program-spending-masquerading-as-a-short-term-stimulus bill, but Obama may be risking the success of it if people starting questioning the repeated use of the "chicken little" playbook and develop a case of "bailout" fatigue.
Absolutely, and the more the government borrows in the guise of a "stimulus" package, the greater the competition for loans. We will see interest rates rise to levels not seen since Jimmy Carter. In addition, Obama's talking down the economy so he can appear to be the knight on the white horse may indeed backfire on him. He may get exactly what he has been "wishing" for. A self fulfilling prophecy.
Oh wait, I forgot you conservatives call him the Messiah
My bad, yeah, he should have fullfilled those promises in his first week.
He says if it fails, the people will not re-elect him.
?

<---- Not Obama!
