Will Obama be voting NOT present?

Just wondering if Obama's 'change' theme is going to show itself in a vote concerning our country's current economic crisis. Will he be changing his often used 'present' vote in Illinois to a 'not present' vote on this issue and avoid taking a stand on this issue?
While Obama claims that he would return to Washington only if needed, it seems that someone seeking the top job should be on the job.
He claims he can multi-task, but McCain is doing that, not just talking about it. Obama is off preparing for his debate tomorrow, yet McCain is off tending to business and most likely will be at the debate tomorrow night.

There is one born every minute, Hakuna, and clearly you are one.

LOOK at McCain's voting record this year. Good grief--it's a political ploy b/c he's behind in the polls and b/c many in his party don't support the buyout.

Obama has cast more votes than McCain in the 109th and 110th Congresses. Check the records.

Sure, Obama shows up to vote for pork in a Dem. congress, but is a no show for a national crisis.

Keep drinking the kool-aid served by your neocon brothers and sisters.

BTW - Obama and McCain are speaking with President Bush today regarding the bail-out plan.

True, but only because he was summoned to the White House by President Bush. One would think that as a potential POTUS that will have to deal with the results in a new administration, that Obama would want to be part of the process. The bill will have a significant impact on the next administration and any programs. This could have a major effect on health care, taxes, jobs, etc. McCain knows this and returned to work on a bi-partisan solution to the problem. We don't need a leader walking and chewing gum at the same time; we need a leader on the job!

We also need a leader who knows when his country is in trouble and the problem needs to be fixed.

I hate to be a broken record but both Bush and Mccain have said as recently as last week our Economy is sound. You can google it to find out for yourself.

Obama is not the one who got us in this mess by the way......

However he has been saying that we need to fix the economy to help his fellow Americans so who is putting us first now?

You guys are conveniently forgetful. Everyone has seen the private jets that both Obama and McCain walk out of/into and wave regularly. Those little suckers can get both McCain and Barack from DC to Mississippi in an hour or two. Both men can leave DC by 5pm. Those debates start at 9pm Mississippi time. If this was Barack trying to cancel the debate you all would scream how scared Barack is. And you know it. McCain is scared and this was a tactic that will blow up in his face. Why? Because I’d bet any amount of money that the debate will take place tomorrow.

IMO, this is not about Barack but about Palin, who is scheduled to debate next week right here in St. Louis (my home town). Every time she opens her mouth she digs a hole for McCain. I finally saw her interview with Couric. I feel sorry for her. The public has low expectations for her but we have to expect less than what we originally thought. It’s really sad.

Hi Neighbor, I'm probably about 100 or so miles from you.

I hope Senator McCain shows up at the debate. He's going to look like a coward if he doesn't. You may be right, he may be trying to keep the V.P. debate from happening. I heard he had offered to move this debate to the date of the V.P. debate and have it 'rescheduled for a later date'. I'm guessing later means after the election.

Schieffer: Paulson Pleaded for McCain to Save Bailout

By Mark Finkelstein (Bio | Archive)
September 25, 2008 - 07:53 ET

So much for a "stunt."
John McCain got involved in the bailout negotiations after Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson told Sen. Lindsey Graham yesterday that the bailout plan would fail unless McCain came in and brought balky Republicans aboard. That's what Bob Schieffer reported on this morning's Early Show. Schieffer's account stands in stark contrast with the allegation by Dems like Barney Frank and their MSM cohorts that McCain's moves of yesterday were nothing more than a political "stunt."

Here was Schieffer speaking with the Early Show's Maggie Rodriguez at 7:05 AM EDT today:
BOB SCHIEFFER: I am told, Maggie, that the way McCain got involved in this in the first place, the Treasury Secretary was briefing Republicans in the House yesterday, the Republican conference, asked how many were ready to support the bailout plan. Only four of them held up their hands. Paulson then called, according to my sources, Senator Lindsey Graham, who is very close to John McCain, and told him: you've got to get the people in the McCain campaign, you've got to convince John McCain to give these Republicans some political cover. If you don't do that, this whole bailout plan is going to fail. So that's how, McCain, apparently, became involved.
Continued Schieffer . . .
SCHIEFFER: He has gotten what he wants, he's going to have this meeting, kind of a summit today with the president and Barack Obama. I'm told that the leaders of both parties are getting close to having some kind of a bill. The question, though, is whether rank-and-file Republicans, especially, are going to vote for this.
And that's where McCain comes in. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Answering the call... Decisive action by McCain:)

Let's see: Lindsey Graham tells Bob Schieffer that Henry Paulson told him (Lindsey Graham) that he (Henry Paulson) needs McCain to pass the bailout.

So did McCain ever get the call from Paulson? Or is this just Bob Schieffer reporting on what was told to him by Lindsey Graham who related to Bob Schieffer what Henry Paulson told him about John McCain?

Get the scorecards. :lmao:

Obama is only there meeting with the president, because McCain asked GWB to ask obama to attend.

Hey guys, if you need me just call me. What a crock. Maybe he can work on getting the coffee and donuts together for the morning break. and order up some sandwich platters for lunch.

So in other words, in your opinion Obama was invited to act as the butler? Is that what you're saying? :confused3

More leadership from Obama; "If you need me call me". Its right up there with "Its above my pay grade".
