Will my boyfriend like the Magic?

We just went on the Magic and I was unimpressed. I'm not observant and I noticed the stains in the carpets, rust in the porthole, not nearly as many people cleaning, especially in the bathrooms.
The size of the atrium was a huge difference. The Til We meet Again is not a party like the previous cruises. Just wasn't wowed.
People are different and a lot of people rave about the Magic. My husband and I did not care for it. Kids didn't care, they love any DCL cruise we do.

I was on the Magic for the TA back from Barcelona for 11 days and then again for 7 days on the 10/7 cruise. The only place I really noticed that they need to update is the Adult pool area. A lot of rust around the pool. I can honestly say I did not notice stains on the carpets.

I think the sports bar on the Magic, O'Gills, has a much nicer layout and ambiance than on the Dream or Fantasy.

Oh no, I'm disappointed to read this! We were on the Magic 5(?) years ago and it was in need of some reno work (literally threadbare coverings on the bed and mold in the bathroom, among other things). I was counting on it to be in better shape now that it has been re-imagined! I agree about the atrium! I find the Magic more crowded than the Fantasy for those character parties, etc. that take place in the atrium. We LOVE the Fantasy - not a fan of the Magic but for now Fantasy doesn't sail from NYC. :(

I was on the 10/15 cruise. It was in the area of the atrium where the parents stand taking pictures of the princess meet. Also near the elevators/restroom in the bar areas. Wish I had taken pictures because I was very surprised since I thought everything was taken care of last year.

Did the Magic first , then the Fantasy. I probably couldn't help but to feel a bit let down going back on the Magic now, but certainly still would enjoy it. Just set your expectations that it will be smaller, less impressive spaces, and older, but the same great shows, service, and food

About me: Over 100 days on the classic ships, less than 20 on the Dream Class ships.

I prefer the Magic and Wonder to the newer ships. Not a fan of the Dream, but that's mostly because of the Itinerary. The Fantasy is a Fantastic Ship - by any "objective" measure, the best in the fleet.

Like the Captain said earlier, your first ship will probably always be your favorite and all others a let down.

But I love the classics for the smaller size (guest wise). At this point I want to relax and be taken care of. I don't need to be "entertained" by the gizmos and gadgets of the newer ships. I love getting to know the people that are taking care of me. I love that there are more "live" activities to participate in than on the classics than on the newer ships. And frankly, I love that if I were blindfolded that I would be able to move throughout the ship and get to where I wanted. Its "home" (just like the Fantasy is your home).

Each ship is unique and each cruise is different. If you and the BF are open to new experiences, there shouldn't be a "let down" or disappointment. If you've been to Disneyland and WDW Magic Kingdom, they are the same, but they are also very different. Same with the ships.

What is the verandah club?

It is an "adults-only experience(s)" making use of the verandah. Please make sure that the children are safely engaged elsewhere, preferably without self-checkout privileges at the club. Be warned, some members have "enjoyed" a permanent souvenir nine-months after their (re)joining.

In both cases, the classics are the better ones. :)

I've never been on any of the Disney cruise ships so I'm pretty excited. My bf said as long he's with me he's going to have a great time. I had just been worried since he's been on the newer bigger ships

We were on 10/02 and thought she was in great shape as well! I didn't notice any stains, rust, etc., though we never made it to the adult pool. Everything in our room was in great shape as well, much better than when we sailed on her in June 2015. When we were on that 2015 cruise one day my husband was chatting up a CM. He said that his entire job consisted of walking the ship daily looking for carpet spills / stains. Seriously, he just walked around all day cleaning up the carpet. Of course, as many kids (and sometimes adults) I saw walking around sloshing drinks out of their cups, he may have even needed a helper! :P
