Well, that really is a subjective thing. The record coldest ocean temperature in the area of Castaway Cay is 72 degrees. I swim year round at my gym's outdoor pool that is heated to 70 degrees so for me, the answer is no, it is not too cold. We were on Castaway Cay on January 2 and what we noticed is, the AIR temperature is a bigger factor. It was drizzling all day but we snorkeled in the morning, and rented bikes (while still in our damp swim wear) in the afternoon and it was cool put comfortable. Yet, some people either never got off the ship, or went back before noon. My neighbors on either side have pools and they start using them when the water temperature hits 68 degrees. But I have to say someone from Manatee Bay, Florida, where water temperature has hit as high as 101 degrees might find the water too cold. LOL.
