Will it be open?

Wondering if FW will be opened this FRI, October 1. I had planned this vacation for my kids during their week of fall school break but Ivan decided to extended the break to a month.
Just survived Ivan here in the panhandle. Thankfully my electricity returned after a week,but many homes still do not have it. The kids have been out of school for 2 weeks and are not scheduled to return until Oct 11.
My husband and I are bringing 4 kids (2 ours, 1 nephew, 1 neice) in the camper and this is the only time I can go (certainly can't take the kids out of school anymore!)
I know Disney is worried about safety issue, etc. but if I don't get these kids out of the house soon, there will be a safety issue here! They are already climbing on the downed trees.
Does anyone have any inside info????

I'm anxious to hear how FW is doing, too. I guess I'll just keep packing and hoping until I hear otherwise!

I continue to pack. We had planned to buy most of our perishables when we get to Orlando, but after what we have went through the past two weeks (still having slight difficulty finding gas in our one-gas-station town) we are going to bring as much perishables as possible. Also bringing ten gallons of gas JUST IN CASE!
I need this vacation very bad!! I have just finished working 12 days straight at my nursing home. Seven of those were without electricity. After five days FEMA brought a generator big enough to run the A/C!! The Home took minimal damage (built to CAT 3 standards, thank God!) but the big beautiful oak and cedar trees are gone. Most importantly, all my grandmas and grandpas did extremely well through the storm and NEVER complained.
Perhaps I will see some of you at FW. We will be the family with 3 country boys who act like they've been locked up and just set free and a 13 year old girl who thinks she is their mother. Yes, she is just that bossy!

We are heading over to FW this Friday also, so I am calling FW up tomorrow to see how they are doing. Will post their answer same as I did 2 weeks ago.

We're supposed to arrive this Fri. at FW also, so add us to the list of those anxiously wondering too. John, we'll definitely be watching and waiting for the answer you get from them.

Our thoughts continue to be with those in Fla. and other areas affected. Watshakinranch, hang in there! The elderly always come to my mind when I hear about storms, etc., and it's nice to hear the ones where you work fared well.

Came across some info on another unofficial Disney board, Intercot.com, and it said that FW will re-open for guests on Tuesday, Sept. 28. Good news, but still it will be nice to hear the official word straight from FW.

Yeap, I read another article that was a press release from WDW and they stated that FW would re-open on Tuesday. So that's 3 of us - it's gotta be true.

Fort Wilderness will NOT be opening til Wed!

My sister was to check in on Tues.....they left here in PA yesterday. Her cell phone rang last evening and it was WDW, telling her that their reservation needed to be changed for one night and they were moving her to Beach Club Villas. She needed me to tell her what that was near since the rest of her crew is flying down on Tues. and they needed to tell the limo driver where the resort was.

If I hear any news from her before Fri (I am sure that I will!! ), I'll be sure to post it on this board.
