Will I regret flip flops?

At the very least you should wear quality shoes with arch support and a rubber sole.

Foam flip flips could REALLY cause you some problems - in the from of foot pain, stretched ligaments, stubbed toes, and a host of other issues.

It's not the type that matters - it's quality.

I won't wear anything except shoes/sandals with a nice sturdy sole and good arch support.

Everyone will have a different opinion, since people tolerate shoes differently. I have seen people wearing flip flops in the parks. Would I? Never! My feet would go on strike and I'd be sitting on a bench the whole time.

I wore nothing but flip flops while we were there in May, luckily, we only got caught in rain for no longer than 15 mins. I could imagine wet feet & wet sandals resulting in some pretty bad blisters.

We're going again in Sept & I do plan on bringing some flats & runners, but I'll probably end up just in flip flops. I buy them from Payless, but I have to make sure they're the fabric ones, not plastic & I'm fine!

I buy a new pair of Teva Mush for all my trips...wear them every day, all day and have never had a problem....rain or shine.

I sure am glad I saw this thread. We are going late October in 2012, and I never would've thought to bring warmer clothes with us. We have been there in October, but it was early October, and it was HOT. However, it was cold in the water! I was really surprised this May/June when we went. I didn't take flip flops at all the first trip, and this time right before we left I took some advice off the DISboards and bought myself a pair of Crocs Capris!!! I sure am glad I did! I plan on buying and wearing 2 more pairs on the next trip. I can't imagine it being colder than Ohio at that time. Sometimes we will have really hot days and really cold nights, or we'll have really cold days. I think I can handle it, but my kiddos are freeze babies! Thanx for reminding me to bring clothes for the cold too! The good news is that we'll be driving, so I can fit the extra bulk for my 7 Disney fans in the extra bags we can bring! Yay!

I just bought a pair of the Nike comfort thongs in brown and I think I am going to love them! I can't stand for my feet to be encased in tennis shoes and socks all day, especially in the heat. So I will rotate between the Nike thongs and my nice, broken in pair of Reefs. I also have cheap rubber thongs for the shower and pool area.

We are heading to Disney World in less than a month!

Personally, I would not do flip flops at WDW, even the Teva's. I am the queen of stubbed toes, and also seem to be a magnet for being stepped on or ran over so for crowded places, I wear something to protect my toes, like my Keen Newports. I agree with all the PPs about you knowing your feet best, but I concur about staying away from the cheaper Old Navy kind of flops. Not only do you have to worry about your feet aching, but your knees, hips and back will take a punishment of doing such heavy walking on pavement day in and day out. Find a shoe with some type of shock absorbency. Your joints will thank you! :)

I just returned from Disney 2 days ago and wore flip flops for 1 day. While my feet were not sore nor uncomfortable, I was much more tired at the end of the day purely from the effort of grasping my toes when I walked and also they were a bit slippery when it rained.

1 day of wearing my ever faithful flip flops and I was back to socks and shoes with a back on them. Even though it was 100+ each day this type of footwear was far more comfortable for me.

What about crocs?

I bought myself a pair of "mary jane" style crocs and broke them in so that they are very comfy, but I recently noticed the slip and slide when water gets in them.

Anyone have luck with wearing crocs all day?

I planned on bringing a baggie of paper towels or a swimmers towel to wipe out my shoes when they get wet but don't know if that is practical.

I have these kinds of Crocs and never had any issues with wearing them in the parks...until it rained ALL day during our MK day.

At first, I was fine, but after a few hours of my feet slipping and sliding, my arches were killing me. I ended up walking back to the hotel room in tears at the end of the night. I'm really wary of Crocs in the parks since that happened. :sad1:

Were they regular flip flops like they sell at Old Navy? Just curious b/c I could see you getting exhausted after wearing that type. I used to love them until I injured my feet, and now just can't wear them. They are completely useless when it comes to my feet. There's no support, and they are so low that it makes it hard to walk for long periods of time. I never thought I'd be able to wear flip flops again until I tried the Crocs Capris. I can walk in them! Praise the Lord! They have great support, and are super cushy. I did have to wear them a bit before the trip to get my feet used to the straps again since it had been so long since I wore flip flops. I am jealous of people who can wear the flat kind, but I am grateful to have something I can wear finally!

I have worn them all day. I think what happens is if they get worn too much, the circulation nubs wear down and they become slippery. I didn't have luck with my Mary Jane crocs at Disney. They were a little too flat for me to make it all day in them. I don't know what kind of solution there is for you, but I hope you find one. For me, I don't have too many problems with water getting in and sliding around b/c I wear mostly the Malindi style and the Capris. I do dabble in the beach ones, and most recently the off roads. I used to wear Mary Janes, but have ditched them since finding these other styles. Malindis are like a ballet flat, so they don't get soaked. Maybe another style won't be so slippery for you!
