Will I Make It To Chef Mickey's?

Our plane gets in at 2:04 and then we take Magical Express to Wilderness Lodge. How long does the check-in take? The only time I could get CM'S was at 4:30 that same day for the 6 days we are there. We'd sure hate to miss it as it is one of my grandkids favorites. I was thinking if we could make the 4:00 boat to Contempory we might pull it off. That is, if there is a 4:00 pm boat. Do you think this is possible? What happens if we are 30 minutes late?

Yes, you COULD make it, but it certainly would make me nervous.

Most reports on the DIS say it takes 60-90 minutes from the time your plane lands to the time you arrive at your resort.

So assuming your flight is on time, you will arrive at WL about 3:15-3:30. After checking in (that could take anywhere from 5 minutes to half an hour) you would then need to hightail it over to the CR.

My advice is to keep calling Disney Dining every day to see if a later ADR has opened up. Otherwise, you could try it the way it is. If you are 30 minutes late you will likely be treated as a walk-in and go to the "back of the line."

If your using magical express for your luggage, make sure you have everything you need in your carry on bag. Like a change of clothes if you are planning on changing and a hair brush. It takes a while for your luggage to get to your room.

If you MUST make it in time, why not take a bus from the airport straight to Contemporary? Just assure WL that you ARE keeping your reservation, but you'll be late in checking in.

Not to discourage you, but in my experience WL has a very slow check-in process. We always arrive about the time you mentioned. On one of our trips it took an hour to check-in - no kidding! It was ridiculous. We love the resort, but if I could change something about it I'd definitely suggest a more efficient check-in.

I think I will keep checking every few days for a later ADR. I also got am ADR for Whispering Canyon at 6:30 so if I have to cancel C.M. at least we can still eat!! I hate to go directly to Comtempory because we'd have to drag along our carry on's. That is an idea though. Thanks for all your help!!!!
