Will I make it? Timing of Southwest Visa rewards...

I just applied for Southwest Visa, was approved and told the documents will arrive in 2 weeks. I am hoping to make my first purchase, wait for my 50K rewards points and book a flight from PHL to MCO for early May 2012 as soon as the window opens. Will I make it?

I've heard the rewards points can show up as quickly as 48 hours, although the literature says 4 to 6 weeks. The Southwest booking window seems to be open through early March...now sure how long I have until May opens? Any guesses?

Hopefully even if I miss the May 2012 opening I can still use the points to buy our May tickets?!?!?!

My card came in a week. Immediately made a purchase then went online the next day on the chase website and paid it off. A week later I was making my reservation from PHL to MCO for December 2011. One thing to note the points showed up in my rapid rewards account before they showed up on the chase website so keep checking both. Good luck.

Southwest will open its schedule to April 9th on 5 September. Subject to change.
