Will I lose Points? When Should I be banking?

So this is probably a really easy question to answer for you guys, but for me as a somewhat newbie, I can't get my head around it!

My UY is December, and I have a trip booked between 01 December 2020 until the 15 December 2020 using banked points from my 2019 UY and the remaining from my 2020 UY.

I am feeling fairly pessimistic about the parks being open by then. Therefore, say I have to cancel that trip, what will have happened with my 2019 points? Will they be lost? And if not, when will I have to use them by etc?

I am assuming I will still have access to my 2020 UY points and they will just drop back into my account for use prior to 01 December 2021 (assuming I don't bank them).

Dec 2019 UY points that were banked into your Dec 2020 UY will have to be used for a reservation with a check out date on or before 12/01/2021 or they will be lost. Depositing them into RCI would also be an option.

If you were to cancel the Dec trip anytime on or before Oct 31, 2020, those Dec 2019 points banked into the Dec 2020 use year would be usable for any trip in your Dec 2020 use year that ends on or before Nov 30, 2021. The Dec 2020 points that are in that reservation would also be usable for a trip that ends on or before Nov 30, 2021, or you could bank them into the Dec 2021 use year as long as you do the banking by July 31, 2021.

In addition to the advice above, my advice would be to use all your banked points as early as possible after your 2020 UY starts in December. AND try not to travel after your July 31 banking window.

You are in a very good position.

As the others have posted, just be sure to cancel at least 31 days prior to the arrival date so that none of the points go into holding status. If you do that, the banked points won't expire until 11/30/2021. The 2020 points will also expire on 11/30/2021 unless you bank them. The banking deadline would be July 31, 2022. If you bank the 2020 points, they won't expire until 11/30/2022.
