Will I have to buy a new ceiling fan?

Ok I have this celing fan in my daughter's room who has since moved out with her boyfriend. (Its not in the pastel colors, its white) Anyway I want to replace the arms on it and I am wondering if I could use either of these below. One is 52 inch and the other is 42 inch, while my ceiling fan is 44 inch.

Well I did put up pics of individual arms. They have them in a 5 pack at Lowes and Home Depot for less than $20

Well, probably the 42" for a 4 4" fan. The fan seems less likely to be able to support the weight and expanse of 52" blades.

Are they returnable? How expensive are the new actual blades? How does that compare to - like @Calee suggested - the cost of a new ceiling fan?

I would not go to all the trouble of changing out the blades with new ones that may or may not work. Also, may or may not be quiet when changed out and operational.

Ceiling fans are so affordable, I would buy a new one that I liked and knew would work.

I will go to Lowe's and ask them. If they would work it would be a savings of around $80 I think? ,If not, I could go with a cheap ceiling fan from Walmart but I don't want that.

Take one off and take it with you. While the arm may fit on the Motor it is highly unlikely that it will fir the blades as they all are different sizes even among the same brand so you will likely need to buy new blades as well.
Check Ebay for new fans especially Hampton Bay which is home depots brand as there are always a lot that are on clearance some simply for a light bulb upgrade... In other words the old model came with CFL Bulbs and the new comes with LED...I have been able to get 300+ Casablanca fans (upper end Home Depot brand) for around 50 brand new...

Right, that is what my mom told me to do. If I have to buy a completely new one I will. I will just give that one to my niece.

The arms have the shape of a flower on them. Can't do anything with that.
