Will I get a ressy at such a late date?

We just put in an offer on a SSR resale contract and it has gone to Disney for ROFR.
If it is approved, we should be able to make reservations late Sept-Early October.....
My question is this: Will we be able to get someplace for January 10-17th?!?!? We are going down for the Marathon. We're flexible on where we stay (have to be at that late a booking time!!!)
Any feedback/suggestions?!

The marathon is Jan 7-10. The 10th is going to be hard to get.

Isn't it hard waiting for that ROFR? We just got our resale closed and the points appeared today. We also are going for the marathon in January. Our dates are 1/9 to 1/15.

I just spoke with Member Services. We ended up with the first 2 nights in a 2 bedroom at OKW and the remaining 4 nights in a 2 bedroom at BWV. I'm on the waitlist to get the first two nights at BWV.

I had her check every other resort before SSR and OKW. Availability for studios and 2 bedrooms was very spotty - in some we could stay one night at a time, others nothing was available. However, I got the sense that there was still a lot of room at SSR and OKW.

SSR and OKW are the largest, so you should be able to at least waitlist one of those and get in. GOOD LUCK!

You know you can't get to the start of the marathon from the BWV, right? ou'l have to take the bus from the BWV to Epcot. And you won't be able to walk back after the race through Epcot unless you have a ticket. OKW is probably the best resort to stay at for the marathon because you can walk to the race start from OKW.

Hope you get what you want for those nights.

Keep the faith and be flexible and persistent and you can probably have success. I can't comment on that particular date, however, I can share my recent similar experience. I closed on an SSR resale in late July and got reservations for late August. I got a few nights at BCV followed by a week at WLV in a studio. There was also availability for SSR and OKW a few weeks ago. I felt really lucky - I did call a few times to put this together. I never thought I'd have such great reservations for this summer.

Yep, we know. But I appreciate the head's up. It is so close, yet so far away! We'd rather be a little inconvenienced marathon day and be able to stay where we'd like. Either way, it is going to be fun!

I think you'll find something at the bigger resorts (SSR/OKW), but keep in mind that the weekend of Jan. 16-17 is MLK weekend and Federal holiday weekends do bring more folks in too. We choose Jan. 23-30 just to avoid both of those events.

If you aren't too picky about where you want to stay I don't think you'll have a problem finding something.

Oops - Yes, I messed up the dates....It's the 9th-16th that we need.

Thanks for all the replies. We are OK with SSR or OKW for this year - especially at that late a date.

And we typically stay VWL so I'm used to riding the bus to and from the race so I'm fine with that
