My wife has neck problems so wont go on many rides, which leaves me to accompany our 5yo on rides but im worried that i wont fit on rides with him as im 6ft 6in and am stocky with a bit of a belly.
I want to avoid his disapointment and my embarasment at not being able to fit on rides. :thanks:

Hi!! I wanted to write to tell you about a website that I've seen lately. It's called Walt Disney World at Large. Here is the link to the website. http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/ridsiz.htm
It covers all of the theme parks, and gives accounts of the rides from riders first hand. I'm not a little girl by any means, and even though I fit on the rides, this website was interesting to read.
Hope this helps.
Have fun on your trip, Elisa

Disney is not the type of park that really has "kid rides". The rides are designed for families to go together. The only thing I can think of that you would probably be uncomfortable would be Goofy's Barnstormer -- it's kind of cramped.

I also wanted to add that your wife may be surprised at how many rides she can do, even with a bad neck. Many of the rides are family rides that are suitable for infants thru senior citizens and beyond. I rode many, many rides even at 7 months pregnant. If she has a bad neck, she'll probably want to stay away from the roller coaster type rides, but there are still so many things she probably can handle.

Allearnet.com (the link posted by the previous poster) may also have a section on disabilities that might list info about rides she could handle.

DH wouldn't mind me adding that he is 6'1"+ and stocky as well - line backer sized - any excess weight in belly. He did plenty of rides with all of our kids - especially because I get dizzy quite quickly. Never a problem on anything ranging from Dumbo to Flying Carpets to Barnstormer to Big Thunder Mountain Railway....and each time, when he had to share a lock in bar with the kids, he still felt like they were secure as well.

Thank you so much for that information I was so scared of going due to I am a heavyset woman...............all in all FAT I should say
Anyway I was crying and said that I didn't want to go because I was afraid that I couldn't ride anything due to my size but this really put my mind at ease I hope and pray that it is all true anyone out there know from experience that you can ride anything being about 5'8 and about 300 plus pounds ?????

Try the link above that someone provided from allearsnet....they had some first hand accounts of larger sized folks and what they did to get buckles and the like to work. Written well from first-hand perspective.

Disney treats everyone as if they are a kid. Whatever "kid" ride you can think of is made for adults too, and they are just as much fun for adults.

Disney has done a great job in accomodating all sizes from those tall to those who are Pooh-sized. People have given you some good links to look at but I believe you have nothing to worry about at all.

I am about 240 and 5'10" (size 20W)and I can ride most rides fine...for me it is a matter of getting in and out that can be difficult-Space Mountain for example-plenty of room, so I think you will fit, but because it is a low seat and having to get all my weight from below my knees it is hard for me. BTM-no problem because it is more like a bench seat , POC no problem, HM no problem, Buzz no problem, even Indy cars...OK too. I can't think of any rides I couldn't do. HAve a good trip

I am going to agree with bartleby1 that your wife will be fine on the majority of the rides that your 5 yr old will want to go on. I have neck, shoulder, and back issues and I was able to do even Everest and was fine and trust me it's rough. I have avoided roller coasters and rough rides for years because of this. This year I hit them all and came out with only a headache(due to the neck thing) after doing Big Thunder, Space Mountain, Goofy's barnstromer and the race cars, with my DD driving I might add, all in one day. I am not saying if she has serious problems she will be fine on everything, only that she'll be able to do a lot more then she thinks she will. Most of the rides are pretty smooth and slow paced. She would do great on Small World, Transit Authority, Spaceship Earth, Soarin, Finding Nemo, the Carousel, Peter Pan and so many others. Also I think you will be fine on most things. Goofy's barnstormer would be tough and the astro orbiter as it's 2 people crammed into one small space per orbiter, so definitely avoid that one. If you go on the Indy speedway you may have your knees in your face, but you would still get in. If you want another good resource for the rides and what they're like either buy or check out Birnbaum's Disney for Kids book. It gives a great breakdown on what rides are rough, scary, dark etc., and your son would probably enjoy looking at it and reading it with you as it's geared towards them. My kids love this book and it was great in helping to plan out the things we really wanted to do and what things we could skip because we weren't interested.. Have a good trip.

:yay: <waving hand wildly> I am 5'9" and at one time was 300 pounds (give or take a few). I rode everything with no problem. I thought I was going to have a problem on the rock n roll coaster at MGM, but all was well.

I found it ironic that I could fit on all rides at Disney, but couldn't buckle the belt on my airplane seat.

Those days are gone for me but I still clearly remember the fear that I wasn't going to fit.

Go & enjoy!!

DH is 6'6", DS15 is 6'4", and I'm "Pooh" sized. Height-wise neither of them had problems. Width wise some of the theater seats were a little squishy for me, and Dinosaur was miserable. (It kept slamming me down on the low ledges between the seats.)

Here's a recent thread about tall people on rides:

and here's my family:

Cinjam............
You said those days were behind you did you lose weight ? How did you do it ? I told DH that I was going on a diet the 1st of May I hope that he helps out so I can maybe lose a few pounds so walking will be a little better and the rides also

Thank you all so much for you information on the rides and my big butt. SMILE
